Really does look like something from the 1980s. I wonder, are TSB about to become the bank that will beat Clydesdale/Yorkshire in "oldest fashioned bank on the high street"?

That's not one of their current cards ... the date on it is 1999 (although I am confused by that ... TSB were part of Lloyds in 1999...)

LloydsTSB, as a combined entity, didn't have a high street presence until 1999, 4 years after the merger...
    1995
In December 1995, Lloyds Bank and TSB merge to form Lloyds TSB, one of the biggest banking organisations in the UK. However, it would be another 4 years before the brand Lloyds TSB is to be seen on the high street.

...so that card may have been one of the last to be issued under the TSB brand.

It's my old card from 1999. Account no longer active.

The merger happened in 1995 but the "LloydsTSB" brand didn't start until mid 1999 I don't think.

Is that even possible as CB/YB still have £35 penalty charges and they haven't fully embraced Faster Payments yet...

They delay small FPs to check 'for fraud' & their 90s style internet banking tells you to call an 0844 number to verify.

To be fair I've never had that problem with online banking and I make quite a few amount of payments big and small. I do remember its only recently that they bothered with faster payments. I actually quite like the fact that they're introducing RBS/HSBC style authentication devices, but keeping them optional! A mobile app is also planned soon.

As a bank among the rest, they seem to be a lot less forgiving than other banks and prefer those that have a fair wodge of cash. They're not keen on lending IME and I had to specifically ask to be upgraded from their bottom tier debit card, which by their own admittance would never have happened automatically despite me being in the eligible group.

I'd have changed years ago but for all I need to actually interact with them and given i actually have few problems its not worth it. To me it's just a debit card and a place for my wages to go before disappearing back out again and a small proportion to be sent to savings (but mostly that first bit).

Midland had become HSBC (well, the branch was branded as such, I was young so don't remember the details!) but my card was Midland branded in 1999!

I still had the card somewhere, but can't find it anywhere, else I'd post a photo. Was Midland Livecash or something to that effect!
