my daughter has paid £5 for the student discount card which gives you some good savings nationally - she now wants to advise others to get in there and buy one - they are going back to the original price of £10 soon - so the quicker the better.....
better still, please use her link below and if she gets five people to sign up she will get her money back - you too will be able to do the same when you receive and activate your card.....
thanks....you can also get this card in the 6th form.....

what discounts do you get? there doesn't seem to be any specifics on the site, and everytime i try to find out more, they make me buy one!0
-
I personally would be quite dubious, as it won't tell you exactly where the discounts are.
Which seems pretty strange, ok website, just no information.
Im gonna wait for my NUS card

I got my student card free from my college.
Wouldn't this be the same for most places of further education?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I got my NUS card free at college too, I know some places have you have to pay to raise funds for the college/uni student union and some 6th forms dont get it as their are not members.I remember when this was just a little website! :money:0

All seems a bit dodgy to me, nothing says what the charge is for, what discounts you will get, etc, etc.0

I agree. A company who tries to sell you something without telling you what it is? No thanks. Very few cities as well; nothing south or east of birmingham, where most of the students live in this country.
As for you sending us a link which we're supposed to help your daughter out with! I bet she wants to advise others to get one, cheeky
Come to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0 -
got to say that i was surprised that the site mentions very few cities, and does not give details of what the discounts are, but prompts you to buy one when you try and find out! does look like a dodgy rip off i'm afraid to say

Hi there
I work on https://www.studentdiscounts.co.uk (and funky.co.uk - the UK's largest student site) - the student discount card is for real and is now into it's second year.
To respond to some of the points above:
<> the card is ONLY in 8 cities due to the fact it take a lot of man power to sign up 50-80 local businesses and negotiate discounts and offers;
<> the specific discount available on the card will be going live this week - we have started to release some of the info on 5 cities already;
<> the discounts and offers on the site are specific to student discount card holders and have been negotiated on their behalf - the NUS card runs a different scheme and are their cards do not have access to our discounts.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us through the contact page on the site.
Thanks

I've been a student for 7 years and never heard of funky.co.uk
I would have thought that https://www.nusonline.co.uk would be the biggest student website?
Perhaps, Peter, you could tell us what welfare/social work studentdiscounts.co.uk does for students, other than uniting their money with business?0 -
Hi Surfcat
Nope, the nus site recieves 180k visitors a month where funky receives over 400k...
Not sure why you have to negative - but perhaps you're having a bad day? :-)
Hope it gets better ;-)0
