Dear friends, Iwonder if anyone out there could advise me on my boiler....it is a baxi 80 which was only installed in May....The company are not in in a Saturday and thats why I'm looking for advice on this forum....Anywhoo...no hot water or heating I think it is quite straight forward but haven't reset button before, I want to make sure I'm doing it right...The pressure gauge is reading at 2 with the water off ,Iknow how to increase the pressure with turning the wee tap on until water flows through but do I have to press reset button to decrease this pressure? Your help is very much appreciated at this time..

Hi,
There is normally a red line on the pressure guage that tells you the maximum amount of pressure to be in the boiler! This is usually more like 1 bar rather than two bar.
The reset button will not lower the pressure!
The only way to release some pressure is to let some air/water out of the central heating system!
If you get a large rag and open a bleed valve on one of the radiators the pressure will drop, when it gets to the correct pressure then tighten the bleed screw back up!
There is a good page here on checking the pressure of a boiler
topping up a combi
bleeding a radiator

Hi , Just to let you know my wee problem with the boiler has been fixed...It was the safety thermostat and the engineer had to take the front cover off as this is found inside the system. Basically the system may get overheated and thats what causes it to cut out .You have to reset by pushing in the wee button at the safety thermostat..YOU MUST TURN OFF ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FIRST OR YOU WILL BE TOAST.......anywhoo I'm getting to be very knowledgable now on boilers.......0

Just picked up this thread and thought you should know that taking the front panel off of a Baxi 80 to access the reset button inside the case will interrupt the 'gas train', which basically means that for safety reasons you should be Corgi registered to do so, as you are breaking the case seal, which is a vital safety component of the boiler. The integrity of this seal needs to be verified before recommissioning the boiler.0

Having said that, I now can't remember if, on that model, it's inside the combustion chamber or behind the main front panel (got a feeling now it's the latter)! Even if it is just behind the fascia panel, the manufacturers literature still deems only suitably competent persons should attempt any repairs.0
