    Out of interest...

These DMPs - do they seize the interest on the debt. E.g. if you owe £1000, will they stop all interest on the money owed, as you are in an agreement to try and pay it off?

I'm senseing that i am being naieve again?!

redrabbit - there is no guarantee that interest and charges will be frozen - but in the majority of cases, through a DMP, most or all creditors will freeze charges and agree an appropriate monthly payment.

Best to use one of the FREE services for this - CCCS, Payplan, CAB or National Debtline.

  • Hi all, just wanted to keep you updated. I have had a letter back form HSBC today which says the following:

We have received your letter blah blah blah

i was concerned to read the comments made and learn of the difficulties you are experiencing.
The provision of a high quality service to our customers is a key priority for the bank and i regret on this occasion we did not meet the standards we aim to achieve. Whilst i understand that your faith in our service has been affected, i do hope you will allow us the oppertunity to restore your confidence in the future.

having examined your account, i can see that all charges have been applied correctly and in line with the banks published tarriff. However in view of the comments made i am willing to refund £250 as a good will gesture.

i woul be grateful if you could sign and return the attached letter withinn 10 working days to confirm acceptance of the compensation payment.

:j :j :j you would have thought i would be over the moon however when you turn to the next page.....

i have somone elses name, address, sort code and bank account number, every detail so i could now rob their account:eek: .

I would tell the people whos details they gave away as they have broke data protection - Lloyds did it with me and thats one of the ways I forced their hands into accepting things on my terms.

Really banks seem to have no idea how to cope with debt management - you would think in this financial climet they would be used to dealing with it by now!

This is typical of the shoddy unprofessionalism of certain sectors of the finance industry and it makes my blood boil.

Notwithstanding the fact that they have broken data protection laws, you should also complain to the FSA. Such an error is inexcusable.

I amongst many others am looking forward to hearing how they wriggle out of this one.

to add my 2 p worth, its USUALLY to the customers advantage to accept a managed loan with a bank IF its the last resort. My experience is just this.. By going on a managed loan senario, it doesnt affect your credit rating, only with that bank and also your bank account info doesnt change.. yes, the APR tends to be high but you dont have to acccept it. Should you not pay as per agreed, they prob would issue a final emand for the toal amount owing, creating a bigger problem for you in the short term.

HSBC did the same to me, but on CCCS advice I declined. What they (HSBC) fail to mention is that all interest is front loaded - so what you owe them effectively doubles - atleast it would have in my case! They use bully boy tactics too but in the disguise of doing you a favour.
