The day we moved in I sat outside for an hour (waiting for the vendors to move out) and cried my eyes out! We've been here a year and I still hate it. I know I will never like it, and we hope to move on within a couple of years.

That happened to me too, although I didn't cry - just felt sick. I hate this house, but OH is ok with it. Bought in a panic and personal circumstances meant we had to stay. It's a money pit too.

12 years down the line and still stuck in it - every day it depresses me. Every day I wishcould move and I'm sure it has affected my whole take on life over all these years.

OP - it's a difficult situation with hormones and stuff [sorry don't know much about it], but did she like it before?

I feel so sorry for the original poster and can relate to how it feels as its happened to me too...... I really hope things work out after your wife has the baby, best wishes for the future to you all.

I panic bought after the first viewer bought my house 2.5yrs ago and offered my full asking price so i snapped their hands off and panic bought a new build as the dates matched....., the new house is in Glasgow where as i lived in north east england at the time and have done the sit on the stairs bit and cry.

Im still here 2.5yrs later not done a thing to the house, still magnolia walls in every room, still trying to decide whats best to do, sell and move back to where I was, buy another in this area or indeed sell put the equity in the bank and rent for a bit as im not sure if the area isnt helping my dislike of the house.

Ive had dreadful neighbours move in next door in January which has just topped it off but my fear of moving again and being in similar position stops me just slapping the place on the market.

Does anyone think this sell, put the equity in the bank and rent idea is workable while this uncertainly hits the markets? I reckon with 20 yrs left on the mortgage the interest id make off the equity by banking it would be as much if not slightly more than the amount my actual monthly mortgage payment pays off the overall mortgage balance.

Any view much appreciate as i need to do something rather than just sit here for more years......
  • We recently moved into a pretty countryside cottage in Derbyshire having moved from a town house.

The wife became pregnant a month before we moved but I dont know whether this is hormones but she doesnt like the house we have moved too as it is a bit quiet and dark.

Obviously it is a bit of a revelation and quite a conumdrum, so can I ask, if any one has disliked a house they have moved to, did it get better?

I moved into a house and decided I didnt like it.....I am afraid to say it didnt get any better, I grew to HATE it as time went on. I'm sorry to say it BUT once a woman has a bad feeling about a place you've had it!

If she is specific about it being the house thats the problem I doubt that will change even if you make lots of new friends in the area, if it was the area she didnt like or the lack of friends she would identify that as the problem not the house.

Us women are very intune with our homes and once we dont like it or have a bad feeling its time to start looking elsewhere! ( having said that I put up with the house I didnt like for 2 years but I hated it and never realxed until we moved!):D

Your happiness is your health and wellbeing, if you are not happy MOVE! dont stay there and be miserable. I did it for 2 years and I never realised how uptight I was until I got rid of the place and actually relaxed. Whats the point in being 20 years older and 20 years of miserable times in ahouse you dont like? move! do it! sooner the better!

I too moved to a house just after having a baby, we lived there for a year and a half and I absolutly hated it, it never got any better even when we decorated, even now four years on when I think of that house it still makes me feel sad. When we finally moved it was like a weight being lifted and I now love the house we live in (apart from the fact we have out grown it).
    Good luck OP

previous owners leave vibes, energy in the fabric of the building and it could be bad, depressing energy. This explains why some buildings are so unfriendly and some so welcoming. Research space clearing and get it done. It will make a very big difference
