  • i checked my egg statements on line and discovered that i had been charged more interest in june than in may even though the balance was lower in june.

i phoned egg yesterday to query it and was told that the increase was because of the number of days in the month so i said so it £1.10 per day then the agent said yes (the fool) at that point i had to hang up cos my children where crying and i needed to deal with them

i am currently on the phone to them to find out why if as the agent said it was £1.10 per day why was i getting charged £75 per month rather than £35. (i should be paying £2.44 per day) so the amounts i am being charged are correct but as i keep saying to them if i was in a shop and a bottle of perfume was priced at £5.99 but was really £59.99 the shop would have no choice but to sell me the perfume at £5.99 and as cc are covered by the consumer act then they should follow this too. they agree that they are covered by the consumer act too.

So i' am just off the phone and it has had to go to their complex team to see if we can resolve this matter but (what a surprise) the complex team aren't in till tuesday.

will keep you up dated on this so go check your statements see if you can get them to say the amount per day is less than what it should be and give them a ring its funny to see them skirm:rotfl:

    lets see what happens

    i will keep you informed

my quidco balance is now almost £30 :j

I also got some free nappies from asda on line they had boxes of nappies containing 74 nappies but i was sent a pack with 50 in and they cost the same price:mad: so i phoned up and said it didnt seem a fair substitute and for the inconvienience they gave me my money back :j wish i'd bought more now:rotfl:

I am debating wether or not to put high interest cc debt on an overdraft am able to get £2750 on overdraft which will mean one of my cc can be reduced to £1000 which would save in interest but am concerned about doing it any advice very much welcome:confused:

have joined pinecone :j and have £13 in my valued opinions accoutn too so doing well there

Hi hun, if egg has not got back to you then if you know what your charges are, put them into the charge them interest template calculater. read through the reclaim credit card charges on main site. Then take em straight to court, no more messing about with them. They have had enough time now. You are now in control, not them xx and what are you doing up at this time hun x

You've done better than me on quidco so far :T
Overdraft's are usually cheaper than credit cards. I once used some overdraft to avoid having a bit of credit card debt when I had a cash flow issue one month some years back.
What interest rate is the credit card? or alternatively what's the outstanding balance on it and the interest charge each month?
What interest rate is the over draft either flat rate or APR?
It'll only take a couple of minutes to work out what you will save shifting 2750 into it.
  • After weeks of worrying and fretting about my debts I am now almost free of those worries.

Last week my shower broke so using the service i am paying for to have my electricals covered i find that due to a small elecrical fire:eek: we need to have some work done not covered by the agreement we have (quelle surprise). And to have this fixed it would cost £899.99 which we do not have and can not borrow

we had already used the 2750 over draft to pay back some of a cc which has been closed and so had no funds on that card availiable everything else is at its max and after looking at our finances finding out we could not afford the repayments on a £900 loan.

so i added up how much we had in debts including everything and adding the cost to fix the electrical faults and worked out that a loan of £13,000 at 7.5% apr over five years would be affordable and would cover the vast majority of our debts and get the electrical faults sorted. as our credit rating is very very very poor i knew we would not get this kind of money at this kind of rate and so asked my MIL to get one for us. thankfully she agreed to do it for us and we then had the money to sort everything.

But having done this we will be debt free in 5 years which shaves off over 11 years off my debt free date:money: .

So I know know i will be debt free apart from the mortgage in october 2013 WOOT

we still have some small debts which are manageable as well as this big one but now we have some extra money each month to live on.

and so will now never get ourselves into debt again to pay for the neccessities in life and can pay a little extra on the mortgage to get that paid off earlier too.

Just to let you know. If you want to get out of your contract with AOL then it is possible. I was 3 months into an 18 months contract and I managed to get out of it. I tried the usual thing by asking and I got knowhere. One day I just snapped and, unlike me, I got abit feisty as I was paying for something that was really costing me more than I could afford. I got on the phone and demanded that I be released from the contract. I didn't think it would do any good but all of a sudden I got put through to Ireland they released me straight away without penalty.

I guess the purpose of this message is it to tell you that it is possible and dont always accept a first answer. Sometimes you have to get a little shirty...in a nice way.

BTW....a great service provdier and cheap is be broadband or o2.

    Best of luck.

Just found this and wanted to say hi. Good news re the mil taking the loan out but only if you stop overspending...please, please start living frugally or you'll be in real trouble that will be very hard to get out of without serious consequences. Good luck giving up smoking - I gave up in feb and feel much better for it plus hated wasting 5+ on fags!

keep a spending diary on her.
write down the full amount you owe on a piece of paper and put it in your purse so you see it every time you spend!!

I hope this works out for you - it was very kind of your MIL to do this for you, but you have a huge responsibility to her to make sure it doesn't go wrong again. One thing I'd say - don't overpay your mortgage until your MIL's loan is paid off. Put the money aside in a savings account, then if things go wrong you have got an emergency fund. If you pay off the loan and haven't touched the emergency fund, then you could put it in the mortgage, but if you do it now you will probably have trouble getting it out again if you need money urgently.
