Hi
i hope this is the right place!!!
we have recently got a BT home hub and broadband and are having a few problems with the connection to our PS3...im really hoping it isnt a common problem!!!
Im using my laptop wirelessly with no problems at all, my husbands ps3 is connected via a cable (we have tried wireless with the same problems) whilst he is playing online he keeps getting disconnected. We have had both Sky and virgin in the past with no problems at all so its starting to drive him a bit crazy and the tec help line is useless!!! We have only been with them for a few days and they did say it can take upto 10 days for all the broadband to be up to speed ect (no idea why and they still charge the full price for these 10 days but still).
My husband is very techy but he just cant get his head around this at all, has anyone else had problems with bt broadband and a ps3??
Thanks
Ann

The 10 days is there for a reason & its utterly pointless at this stage to be wasting yours & the ISP's time chasing technical support.
The broadband on the line will try to find the maximum speed available on your line in these 10 days. So say for instance it tries a high speed profile (say 6mb for example) and the connection keeps dropping then it recognises that 6mb isnt a stable speed for a line, so it tries a lower speed profile.
At the end of these 10 days it'll calculate which is the MSR (Most Stable Rate) and your broadband will be set at that speed. So until this period of 10 days is up you'll experience some random cuts in the connection or some fluctuation in the speed.
Wait until a couple of days after this 10 day period, if you're still experiencing a drop in connection on the PS3 then raise a fault with the ISP in question.0 -
