upload speed

Hi everyone,
I switched to TalkTalk a few months back after a shocking and expensive 3 years with BT!
The ONLY problem I have with TalkTalk is with my upload speed, its 50% slower than it should be using my own router, either with an ethernet cable or wirelessly.
When using TalkTalks own router with my ethernet cable, I get a normal upload speed.
I am connected to the main socket and no extensions, I have tired different ethernet cables and micro filters etc.
I get 5MB download 24hrs a day, (line is configured for 6.5MB), and I get 150kbps upload with my router and 365kbps (line is configured for 480kbps) with TalkTalks router.
I obviously thought there was a problem with my own router, which has worked perfect for 2 years, so I went and bought a brand new router and the same thing happened, great download speed but 50% less on the upload speed!
Talktalk keep telling me its not their prob as the speeds coming into my flat are fine, so unless I purchase their own router for a wireless connection, they cant help!
Any experts who can help as I am confused!
Cheers.

Are the upstream rates the same on both talk talk and your own router?0

That's really quite a strange one.
As you've said that you get higher upload speeds with your TalkTalk router, I would only imagine it's some strange configuration, like a weird MTU setting.“Official Company Representative

Many thx for replies so far.
I was also thinking about MTU, so I checked -
TalkTalk router (Huawei, SmartAX MT882)
Configured MTU = 1432
Actual MTU = 1400
My router (2Wire BT1800hg)
Forced Upstream MTU = 1500
Should I change my MTU to 1400 or 1432 to solve problem?0 -
I have my MTU set at 1400 though i don't think that change will increase your upload speed as your only altering the size of the packet.... Try it though............0

YAY!!! I solved problem!!!!
I changed the MTU rate in my own router from 1500 to 1400 and now my speeds are perfect!
I just did a test at https://www.speedtest.net and my results were -
5.4MB DOWN and 388kbps UP!!!!!
Im very happy now

Have you tried specifically changing the MTU on your Desktop using something like Dr. TCP?
I'd give that a go and play around with different configurations.“Official Company Representative

Sorry for opening an old thread but I have the same issue - switched to talktalk becuase it was cheap but have really slow speeds and some pages get connection errors. Also have a BT1800HG router and keen to try the MTU fix .... but can't figure out how to do it. A google search brought me here so was hoping you could shed some light.
Appreciate any help0 -
