Beware of ringtones from the Sendo site

I ordered a ringtone for £1.25 which I paid for by credit card. When they sent me THREE messages it cost me another £6 and it was the wrong ringtone. When I emailed them I got an automatic response but no reply. Today, another THREE messages and again the wrong ringtone and another £4 taken off my account. Can't phone them, so I sent them another e mail threatening legal action. Bought the phone at Tesco ( Sendo 550) but I don't think they can help. Is there such a thing as an Ombudsman for this sort of ripoff?

Text the number back saying STOP before you do anything else as they may continue.

Thanks, just did that and got a reply saying I have been unsubscribed. Don't suppose I can get my money back though.

I was thinking of starting a topic on this matter myself.

I have never heard of the Sendo site but recently I have been stung for £20 worth of premium rate texts and tunes that I never ordered.

Basically, if these companies get hold of your number, then you have had it as you are at their mercy.

Yes you can send STOP and it does sometimes work but the by the time you have had one message, your number has usually been passed on to several companies and the next thing you know is that your bill is massive.

Im dreading my next bill and service providers just say the cant do anything...

I had a similar response from Orange and as I am on PAYG I was scared to top up as the money would just disappear as quick as you like. All Orange suggested was a change of number which I didn't want to do. Eventually a text came through saying I had unsubscribed.

What I did do is add my mobile number to the TPS thingy. I'll go and try to find the link.
