Dyson - Henry/Hetty or Hoover?

Yeah I wouldn't recommend Henry's as I used to be a cleaner and used one for years, they are nothing special. I find the new cylinder Hoover's and upright Dysons much better even though the Dyson's are cruddy when doing stairs and heavy, the suction far surpasses a Henry! (oo-er!)Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

Can't go wrong with a Dyson in my opinion, had two, and they are amazing. I keep an old VAX for garage and car cleaning, but the Dyson indoors is amazing.

Too quick to judge Mr moneysaver!
Yes one mine, one for my parents. Both working as well as when they are new, one wasn't a replacement for the other.0 -

Parents have had Dyson DC04 since that model was introduced, so I guess mid 1990s? We had a hole in the hose a year or two ago, but was easily fixed, so that must have been going for at least 10 years.
And a Dyson DC07 since 2001 - still fine today, in fact as good as new.
The DC07 suction is so strong nearly pulls the carpets up, the root cyclone makes it much stronger than the original models.
Near have a problem emptying, just take it outside, put it in a bag and pull the open level (much better than the older DC04), tap the side and all comes out no problem at all. Filters easy to wash every 6 months and as we have allergy suffers in the house, I can confirm they help enormously over older vacuums like Vax's.
PS the OP has already purchased a Dyson
A good move IMO. 0 -
Tap the side and it all comes out, errr not it doesnt you have to give it a vigorous shaking, and why should you empty the contents into a bag when a Henry has a bag for collection, it makes no sense as what ever way your still using a bag, and Im not washing any filters, its a flawed design IMO and OP will be dissapointed in 6mths time.
Buy a Henry.
In a rubbish bag. It makes perfect sense. I certainly wouldn't want to empty to dust directly into a wheelie bin.
Vacuums with bags are a flawed design, as soon as they start to fill up, the suction is slowly reduced.
It all comes out of ours, perhaps you have sticky dust in your house?
Filters - surely the Henry has a filter you either need to replace or wash, otherwise there will be more dust particles entering the house.
Try to respect other peoples opinions occasionally, like others do to you.
Buy what you think is best - it's a choice.
I doubt the OP will be disappointed in 7 years of our Dyson, we certainly aren't it sucks as good as new, and helps with allergies. Reliable and powerful, and designed by a industrial designer that solves actual problems.0 -

With a Vacuum that has a bag you detach the bag and put that in a bin.
That's what the marketing people would have you believe, My Henry has never ever lost suction, the Yellow dyson cone does clog up however.
I can only speak on experience. I've had a Vax, a Hoover and an Electrolux (all with bags) and used 2 Dysons. The Dyson, without a doubt picks up much more dust that the bagged vacuums, so it's not "marketing" it's a fact. Most of my friends and family have "upgraded" to Dyson's in the past 5-10 years, and none have been displeased with them, and none have had a problem with them.
My Dyson has never clogged up.Thats a really poor retort.
It's factual, people who smoke or have pets, or use large amounts of hair styling products have different types of dust and dirt in their house.Just read the reviews they back up what I say 100%
Absolute rubbish. You cannot post a false claim like that, unless you are talking about a huge collective of all reviews and take a balanced view, not just one or two review sites you find and subsequently quote.
If you like a Henry so be it. If I like a Dyson so be it.

Our Dyson Animal was the best hoover we have ever bought, picks up all pet hair to the effect of leaving carpets like new, and really helps with my dust allergy. Emptying is simplicity itself. Another A* vote from genny!0
