First i apologise for another what hoover thread:o But i really need some honest help here our dc 14 just isnt doing a good job anymore and after using a dc07 on it proved the dc14 rubbish (not the best dydon since first day) so i went out looking and was pursuaded into buying the vax mach 6 which is really heavy and clumbersome and just doesnt pick up everything and i have the option to return it to costco and my options there are 2 other dysons one slimline and the other im not sure but both are silver, blue with red bits and cheapest is £220 hence choosing the cheaper option in the vax.
Also there is the pink and the red henry hoovers both under £100 and reading the reviews seems a possible good choice but does it cope with dog hairs? as we have 3 hairy friends and feel we need the carpet beater that you get in an upright or do i just opt for the hoover hoover (blue bagless model) for about £70
We also need it to be able to hoover stairs (13) and that it has filtration too if thats any help. Any ideas please?

To be honest we've had no trouble in our 5 cat household with our Dyson Animal, just as long as we empty it every time. We also wash the filters about every 4 months (including one you aren't meant to take out). A friend had difficulty with her Dyson.....but she didn't empty it everytime, AND she drove it over wet washing powder, which gummed it up somewhat!
The April 2008 version of Which Magazine still has the Dyson DC18 Slim Allergy as being "great for retaining allergens....", "excellent on hard floors,", "reasonable on carpet", and "makes swift work of picking up pet hair." It's one of the top 3 upright hoovers - the others being DC14 All floors and DC14 origin. Henry's weren't rated in this latest report.0 -
Hi,
It depends on your budget. We have an Oreck this one http://www.oreck.co.uk/products/upright.ouk/2605BONUS . We have had ours for 7yrs no problems at all. Oreck are giving away a free cannister vacuum, which would do your stairs. The upright lifts everything you throw at it except liquids.

I have a dyson not sure which one but its an animal and its purple and it has "the ball". As long as we empty ours regularly and wash the filters - instructions on their website - it works fantastically. After washing the filters its like having a new hoover! We have 3 dogs aswell and so lots and lots of hoovering gets done.:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0

We bought a henry about 6 weeks ago from cleanstore http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Productcustom.asp?ID=204 and wish we bought one years ago!!! I don't know if they are better than Dysons. We decided on a Henry as there are no filters to wash, having a hoover 2000w pet cleaner before, I thought washing the filters was a pain, and we had to keep emptying it every 5 minutes of hoovering, so far we haven't had to empty the Henry yet.
We have 2 dogs, one of which is a labrador who's hairs are ever present on the carpet, the Henry we got has the turbo attachment whichleaves the carpets like new.0 -
Thank you all:T Ive already had 3 dysons and they only had the 2 year warranty, dc02, the dc07 was good but a little fragile in places and the dc14 just didnt seem to have the power the dc07 had hence now looking elsewhere, im going to have a look at the henrys to see if they have a turbo attatchment which would be ace and i get a pink hoover:eek:The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Have bought a Miele Cat and Dog cylinder cleaner today after reading good reviews about it on another thread.Have a black lab/retriever who is shedding huge amounts of hair and my hoover upright was useless.I have been over carpet once since buying it and am really thrilled with it-carpet looks brighter and hairs flew up.Its nice and quiet too and so would reccommend it highly!:j this money saving is such fun:T0

I've used many different vacuums over the years and I've found henry to be the easiest to use (I have a back problem and can't use heavy uprights) and the most reliable of vacuums. It seems to be the choice most professional cleaners that I have known. It has a longer power cord than many others and is very manouvreable without much effort. If you want one with filters the 'henry extra' is about £1100

I work in a school. We have 4 Henrys. They are each used continuosly for 3 hours a day. They cope with mud, damp grass clippings, glitter, straw and they just keep on sucking. We get 2 weeks out of a paper bag filter and buy them in packs of 10. Pretty much every part is available as a sensibly priced replacement. When I eventually wear my Bosch out I'll be replacing it with a Henry (Henry already comes home for the hols as hes better than the Bosch) and I have a long haired large dog.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Just want to thank you all i went to costco more informed:beer:
I looked at the henrys but it was just the basic one not the one with the turbo head and i remembered my last hoover hoover fell over when i done the stairs which was a pain so i ended up buying the dyson dc18 slim allergy one as we have mild asthma and this sounded best for us and on getting it home and working its fab it reaches more places due to the flatter head and is so light to steer with the ball type steering also the switch to hard floor picks up more than my dc07 does.:jThe more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
