I noticed value fishfingers had gone from 25p to £1.57. My shop used to come in about £50 now it is nearer £80. I could cut out treats for the kids but i'm not. I've also gone back to eating junk food half the week it is cheaper once you have had the oven on at the increased cost of fuel.
Just look for the £1 deals in iceland.
You can't eat healthy at the cost and if battery chicks are banned look at the price of that skyrocketing. Tesco organic chicken is £11.

It is getting harder to eat healthy with everything going up but there is no way i would go back to junk food  , not with all the additives and rubbish they put in it:eek:

but on the other hand not everyone has time for sorting out meal plans and batch cooking etc.

at the mo im trying to focus on rice and pasta (mind even they have rocketed) with a bit of chicken or veg etc and stretching meals out as far as i can for us, ie chilli gets bulked out with more kidney beans and baked beans than meat, shepherds pies get more veg grated in etc.

hopefully people will be able to strike a happy medium. :D

shame we cant get the twits from the gov on here to see what happens in the real world eh!!!

I've noticed it too - my partner and I were trying to work out the other day why the money we set aside for food each month, which has been ample for ages, suddenly just doesn't come close to paying for everything. We try to be frugal - we cook most things from scratch, don't tend to buy branded things, or buy pre-packaged dinners, make our own bread - we've not changed our shopping habits, but something's going to have to give now.

Similarly, our "cost of living" increase was 2.7%... I'm just thankful we have a fixed-rate mortgage!

I noticed it is now 90p for a cucumber in sommerfield, their organic ones are only £1.19 but I got one from the local market for 60p and double the normal size. We decided not to shop in tescos this week as I worked out an online list and it came to way too much. I know the friut and veg is cheaper in the local grocers so I went there and the market. Like with most things, shopping around is the only way I can get the shopping in so that we can all eat.
I am baking raisin muffins, carrot cakes and oat cookies for my daughters paked lunches. It would be so much cheaper to give her crisps and chocs but I am determined for her to eat healthy. I have noticed £stretcher have started doing some food now. They have a pack of 8 fruitshoots for £1.99, ambrosia custard is 45p and a big pack of OXO is 59p. I did go into sommerfield to get things like bread- which is now very expensive.
I have noticed that there is something wrong with the sommerfield tills too. Alot of the offers are not comming off at the till - for example their own brand bread was on offer but at till it charges full price. I argued it with the cashier who then got the hump because she had to go and check the price on the shelf, but I was right. I have noticed this with other things in the store too- so be careful. I was shocked when the sommerfield shopping came to £13  I am going to try to avoid it like the plague. I will just go in for the 8p noodles:rotfl:
Also has anyone else noticed that the price of cheese is getting very high?
We managed to do a shop thatshould last for a week on just under £30 but we will need to get 4 more loaves of bread and 8 pints of milk this week. I took along time going to differant shops trying to get the best prices but it saved cash and meant I wasn't buying any extras
By this time next year we'll be millionaires......
Personal challenge- Make an extra£5 a day for May from may 6th....and not spend it!
