I have a kind of problem with my boyf - he never ever finishes a meal, no matter how small I make it, there will always be some left over and ends up getting thrown away. I know he loves the food (he has a habit of waggling one of his legs if he particularly likes something like an over excited puppies tail or something) - but I hate the waste. He seems to need about 5 meals a day - all really tiny, which is obviously time consuming. Ive taken to premaking a sandwich here and there whilst making another meal so im not disturbed....

Another thing that annoys me is that I will say what do you want for dinner and he says 'I dont really care, im not hungry' - then half an hour later is falling through himself and grabs the nearest junk food he can find. Talk about a wierd boy!

Is he superstitious? The reason I ask is that my grandma does the exact same thing, and she says you have to leave some "for the devil". It took me some time to stop doing this myself. :)

  • Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have tried with my oldest DD, dishing up anything she didnt eat for the next meal, or just removing anything she has left without comment but not letting her eat until the next meal, because according to my health visitor, children will not starve themselves. I have the exception to that rule, I did it for three days once but I had to give in as she had hardly eaten anything at all. (She was always going up and down a centile for weight when she was a baby and I would get tutted at by the health visitors) Unfortunately because DD1 is so fussy, DD2 gets away with it too.
But what can I do when OH refuses to eat anything green, or fruit either?
I do still tend to cook a roast dinner on Sundays because I love it. I dont honestly think they are bothered.
I think I may give the hm nuggets a try though. (They are not keen on hm stuff, they even prefer jelly bought in a tub to home made jelly made from cubes,
DD2 even will not drink fresh milk because it tastes "funny" but will drink over a pint a day of longlife)
I have to admit I do tend to just keep serving up the nuggets, fish fingers, and dinosaurs because they will eat them and there is no waste, but I feel as if I am a failure. Especially when MIL goes on about her daughters children who will eat any vegetable put in front of them and are not allowed to eat nuggets or chips. (and she raised my husband who she once divudged in a weak moment lived on banana sandwiches for months when he was younger)
Both OH and MIL deny that my daughters fussiness is genetic! :rotfl:
