Most EA's would regard a weekly check up and report back to the clients to be the minimum. Solicitors don't seem to be that pro active so you need to institute your own weekly check up with them. If calling them is a problem, as they may be with clients or in court, just send them an email.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. we havent heard from the EA for weeks, i think they have only actually called us on one occasion and that was to tell us to hurry up otherwise the house would go back on the market!( we were still waiting for mortgage offer at this point) we always seem to ring them.
arrggh people arent lying when they say buying a house is stressful!
i just dont know what to do, i hate calling people as well, i just dont know what to say.0 -
It depends why it's empty.Beetle_lover wrote: »thanks for the quick reply. i will try and convince my boyf this is the right thing to do, we are waiting around for nothing!

If it's being sold due to relationship break up, one of them might me really p155y about the whole thing and cause delays to hurt the other one.0 -
I would ask your solicitor what they are waiting for from the sellers side. Armed with this you can then approach the EA and ask them to chase the seller or their solicitor to get the relevant information to your solicitor.0

As I have already said if you are not a 'telephone them and chase person' email them - EA or sols.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

Easy to say in hindsight but when appointing EA's & Sols it is useful to make sure they will communicate by email. Also to try and find out how often they are likely to be out at court. Update:
spoke to EA and the paperwork from the sellers has now been delivered. lets hope its not too long before i hear anything now!
two more questions for you pro's though!
1. wen do you usually get a date for completion because it would be really helpful to know when everything is going to happen so i can organise work etc
2. as i said before the house is now vacant, the previous owner was leaving some furniture and the valuation came back as being a furnished house. i want to find out what he has left. should the EA have a list of this or would i have to go and have another look round? im presuming that the EA would have to come with me to do this?
thanks for all the help0
