Cheapest uncapped LLU provider

I'm looking for a 512 or 1meg LLU provider that provides uncapped service. I have the wires for a BT land line but it's been disconnected for a long time so I'm after getting everything through my ISP so I don't have to pay BT for line rental. I do not care about the voice call prices as I will not be using the line for voice.

  • Visit http://www.samknows.com.
    Do an exchange search and put the name of your exchange in.
    This should provide you with information about which companies have equipment in your local exchange. Aproach them!
    Currently Bulldogdsl.com (Part of Cable and Wireless), Easynet.net, Homechoice, Node4 and Trilogy Telecom are llu competetors to BT. If you live in Cable areas, Telewest or ntl.

    Check out UKOnline. They're LLU service at 512kbps is £9.99pm.

    8Mbps is £29.99pm. And they have said their 24Mbps to be launched will be under £30.

    UKOnline & freedom2surf both provide LLU services using Easynet's network. If samknows.com shows it is EasyNet enabled, check the UKOnline & f2s sites to see if they are enabled (they aren't available on all Easynet exchanges yet).

    If you are in London, also check out Be Unlimited offering 24Mbps for £20pm with free connection on a 3month contract

    LLU = Local Loop Unbundling

    Its when a company can take control of the "local loop", to provide you:-
    a) ADSL using their own kit, rather than via BTw (BT Wholesale) - this is partial unbundling, as BT still control your voice side of the service.
    b) Voice line rental/calls too - only one to do this presently is Bulldog.
