Can I give my PAC number to someone else?
Hi there, just wondering if I can get a PAC on my contract and pass it to someone else to open a new contract with my number, in my case my wife!?
I wondered if the PAC was literally just information on the number and network it came from or if it contained personal information that would be checked between networks to see if customers details matched up?
Thanks

I could be wrong, but I think you can - because just the PAC itself is used to effect the number transfer. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

I would like to do this for my partner also.
If anyone has successfully done this can they please reply?
Thanks0 -
I did it with my sister about 3-4 years ago - seemed to work fine. She got a new phone with Three and then we transferred my old tmobile number which she was mainly using (but it was in my name) and had no problems. So it worked out for us - but I'm not sure what the 'official' stand on this is.0

Provided you have already got the PAC number you can give it to anyone you like to use.
Once the PAC number has been used and the number has transferred over. It will then 'belong' to the account it has been transferred over to.
Hope that makes sense.0 -
Sounds good, thanks for the replies everyone.
Now the trickier question - can my wife use a PAC of my number as a new customer on the same network that the PAC is coming from? i.e. can my wife walk into T-Mobile with PAC from my phone (also on T-Mobile), and be treated as a new customer porting a number in?0 -

Nope. If it's the same network, you may be able to just transfer ownership of the contract - ring up CS when both of you are available and they should be able to do it over the phone.
You can always transfer the number to a PAYG SIM on a different network, then transfer it back.0 -

I think you've seen my cunning plan, that is now not so cunning! So, how long do you have to port out for, before you can port back in as a new customer? In particular with T-Mobile if it's different times for different networks?0 -
No time at all.0

Im planning the exact same thing.
I have a contract that my partner uses and when it runs out he wants to become a new customer for a better deal but still keep the number.0 -
Been doing exactly that for years - works a treat ;-)The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!
