Traditionally it's a way of using up the leftovers from a Sunday dinner, but you could cook the cabbage and potatoes ( and any other veg you have to hand) from scratch.
Nice with bacon slung in if you have any veggie bacon to hand.

Or make the shepherds pie and have sautee greens as a side dish. Chop greens finely and sautee in a pan with a bit of oil, chopped garlic and chilli to taste, if it gets too dry add a splash of water, put a lid on and lt it cook until tender.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

you could incorporate some cooked cabbage into the mash - then serve some as a side dish. A stir fry is a good way to use up lots of cabbage tooweaving through the chaos...0

Depends on the recipe really, greens stay fairly firm unlike spinach.
They do keep really well in the fridge, I buy a bag with two in that only OH and one son eat, they keep going about 3 weeks before needing to be chucked.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
You could always freeze them, I wash and slice the leaves, pop into freezer bags and just get them out when you want themBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

yes freeze them until needed. my fave recipe with greens is
Cabbage with bacon and garlic. makes a fantastic 'side' dish.
one spring green
half or whole onion sliced
couple of slices of bacon chopped or sliced
couple cloves of garlic
just sweat the onion in butter or oil til transparent and add the bacon cook til the bacon is 'as you like it' then add chopped garlic and the sliced greens - cook for a few minutes until the greens are nicely wilted but not soggy!
yes - I have been know to do this with almost every member of the cabbage family, from white cabbage through savoy to Brussels sprouts. delish every time!0 -
