i'll let him know he should'nt be on the road.
How would you know who was a " very good " driver, you admit to not knowing the very basics yourself.
Not all " professional " drivers are good drivers.:rolleyes:0 -
Indeed. Just being paid as a driver doesn't make you a good one. My mate moves portacabins at the company he drives for and even though he's only been driving lorries a few years, he does a better job than some of the blokes who have been doing it decades. They recently gave him a brand new motor because he doesn't bend them and many of the other drivers have lots of scrapes trying to get into places.0

its was the roadside speed traps, the police with the hand held devices that concerned me. i passed one at 60 but i passed the other closer to 70.
In that case, they're even more lenient. On this weeks "Traffic Cops" on the M180 a young trafpol with a handheld was only bothered about drivers doing over 90. Many won't touch you below 85. On a dual carriageway, you'd have to be unlucky to get tugged at 80.0 -

very useful?
i do enough miles to recognise good and bad drivers,i see lots of bad drivers every single day.
i dont think being a good driver constitutes having sound knowledge of the highway code,i would say good reactions, awareness,an ability to forecast a situation and having consideration for other motorists is more important than being able to recite the highway code word for word backwards....work permit granted!0 -

i'll tell the folk who told me it was 60 that conor on MSE says you need to go and take lessons again,im sure they will listen.:rotfl:
Actually I am often surprised how many people think it means 60 not 70.
Of course all of the above assumes you were driving a car and not something bigger.0 -

How can you judge other drivers when you don't even know what the legal speed limit is of the vehicle you are driving yourself? ... that is not about being able to recite the Highway Code, that is one of the very basics.0 -

how can you judge my driving ability by writing on a public forum?
i find quite often that students are good at things in theory, they have great textbook knowledge, but when it comes to actually doing something thats a different matter.
i didnt say i didnt have a clue about the speed limit,i knew it was either 60 or 70 for my vehicle....work permit granted!0 -

Which effectively amounts to " not having a clue ".;)0
