Regarding watching the speedo, I find that I can hold a pretty much steady speed when not looking at the speedo, so I just look at it every now and again. Rather like scanning the rear view mirror. I look maybe every 5-10s.

i can keep a steady speed to,but try explaining that to the machine at the side of the road that when you creep over the speed limit a little bit.
there is around 13 fixed cameras on the a90 stretch between aberdeen and dundee, plus 2 traffic cars hidden with the hand held guns and a scamera van. you'll forgive me for being a bit paranoid im sure.

    70 mph in a car

60 mph in a van (ie not a 'car-derived van)

You were lucky not to get a ticket in your Vito, which is NOT a car-derived van.

2mph more and you'd have been booked for sure.

Have to agree with conor here. If these "other people" don't even know the national speed limit, I shudder to think what other basic things they don't know. Shouldn't be on the road, that simple.

i'll agree one of them is'nt the best of drivers, but the other is a very good professional driver.
i'll let him know he should'nt be on the road.

8MPH ACTUAL speed on a DC dual carriageway is not a little bit. Factor in the overreading up to 10% that most car speedos do and you could have to be going faster than 85 on your speedo to trigger a GATSO on a NSL dual carriageway. Likewise the same applying to a NSL single carriageway could mean your speedo would have to read in excess of 73MPH to trigger it - both which you'd hardly call "a little bit" the 60MPH reading on the speedo.

it wasnt the gatso cameras im worried about,i passed evey one of them without them flashing, i passed them all at either 60 or 65.
its was the roadside speed traps, the police with the hand held devices that concerned me. i passed one at 60 but i passed the other closer to 70.
