I’ve noticed that one or two buttons on my Ferguson freeview box (particularly the “Info” button) seem to send different signals on each alternate press. So I have been forced to program two buttons on the learning remote for that one “info” button (I have used two of the teletext buttons).

Worth a try for those who cant get learning function to work with their remote, try programming two different buttons on the learning remote with just one function and see if alternating between the two buttons makes the unit work.

Its pretty annoying but as it's only on one or two functions, I can just about live with it.

That's not my problem though - getting it to 'learn' one code is nearly impossible. I set up the remote to learn a code (it says WAITING on the display). I point the other remote at it and press the required button and the display changes to FAILED. Only on one attempt out of about 100 tries has it said SUCCESS.

  • I bought two of these (a silver and a black). Only tried the silver yet, but it seems unable to learn from any of my existing remotes. I am wondering if the receiver is a bit too sensitive. When I set it to learn, a remote pointed in the opposite direction, with the signal bouncing off two walls and the ceiling still registers as a fail. Matbe I will try it with a bin liner or two to attenuate the signal.

Shame realy as it realy looks the part. Works my TV fine, but that is all. At this price, I may keep one just for that, but unless I can get the learn function to work, the other will have to go back.

Fair 'nuff, Stompa, But this wasn't solely aimed at you. ;) There are others who are having different probs with remote (such as Talkshop)....

I have it working on my Philips TV but it will not learn new keys. It works on my Humax PVR8000T by learning all the keys in VCR mode. Does not work on my Dreambox so far.
The learn function is not working with some original remotes, as it says 'success' but the learnt keys do not work
....and I thought it might help them or anybody else who might be reading this.
  • The remote will work with all my devices but could not learn new functions on my Sony TV even though it responds with SUCCESS on the display. I have found that I could make it work if I used the learn function immediately after I reset the Tevion remote by removing the batteries. The only problem is that it would only remember the first key learnt, so if I wanted to learn more keys I had to repeatedly reset the remote. I didn't have many new keys to learn so it was not a problem but it will be very time consuming for someone who has to learn a whole remote.

I seem unable to learn the code for my Superswitch Infra-red lights remote. Shame, my pronto manges it with no problems but then it did cost hundreds. I thought this remote would be good for the bedroom but now I am not so sure
  • This kept my hubby entertained for ages getting the remote to work and I was very amused by him getting annoyed by it when it wouldn't work on the pace box. Such fun for a fiver!
