Hi ya
I'm currently looking for a laptop around the £350 mark or a little bit more.
I've seen this one at tesco direct
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-1098.aspx
what do you think of it?
what's the difference in terms of better performance?
core 2 duo
or
AMD Dual Core processor
thank you

I'm sure core 2 duo is the better processor. Somebody should be able to confirm it soon.
You can get a Dell system with the same specs but with Core 2 Duo for the same price.
Supose it will depend on what you think of Dell.0 -
The basic hierarchy is Intel Celeron < Pentium Dual Core < Core 2 Duo < Core 2 Quad Core. At the time of writing, Intel Processors are much better value than their AMD counter parts. This may change with future generations of chips but at the moment Core 2 Duo chips beat AMD X2

I would argue against HP, purely on build quality - a multinational I sometimes work for sourced HP's over Dell, and boy are they paying for it now. (Yes I know it's fixed under warranty, but when you have about 1000 units failing on a regular basis, it's a support headache!)
The boards suffer from a lot of failures, very early in their useable life, and the replacements don't last much longer.
As a rule of thumb, I avoid HP wherever possible anyway. Been in IT for 15 years, and had problems with their kit ever since.
On the other hand, a bank I do most of my work for switched to Dells, and apart from the odd hard drive failure, I've hardly seen any to fix

I would agree as far as their laptops are concerned, they should stick to building Server kit, this is their strong point.I would argue against HP, purely on build quality - a multinational I sometimes work for sourced HP's over Dell, and boy are they paying for it now. True, I must say though I have a couple ML370's still in service along side 6 DL380's, never had a PSU fail on the old Compaq, 5 redunant supplies dead within 4 month, HP say must have been a dodgy batch! :eek:Aye, only coz they nicked Compaq's ideas too
