We did check the size of my son's laptop (an Acer Aspire 7720) which on paper would fit just but we'll see when the bag arrives.
If not, I might have it for mine - though I was thinking about one of those trendy pink leather ones rather than a backpack!

Just an update on the Stm convertible:
it fits perfectly and my son is delighted. It is very well made, with loads of pockets and space to carry all the paraphenalia that goes with a laptop plus more. And the option to convert from a backpack to a shoulder bag could be useful too.
It isn't the cheapest bag but is certainly a good choice. It arrived quickly from Amazon too.
