Is this the cheapest / best deal?
I need a laptop, dont want complete rubbish but as an owner of two reasonable PCs at home I dont need anything like top of the range either.
What do you think?

Yes, but if you look at others in that price range, they are usually much less than that, and usually only Win 98!!
So, with that in mind, is it a good deal, or are there better ones?? I soooo hate it when you commit yourself only to find there are better deals later!!

There was a £350 laptop mentioned recently on one of these boards which was 2.4GHz or similar. I wouldn't recommend this

Also, it is actually £292 with VAT0

I meant the one you found, although if you read the thread you'll see I wouldn't recommend the other one either. So, I suppose it was a pointless post - but any way the point is there. If you gan get a 2.6GHz laptop for £350 then that surley indicated there must be better laptops for £290 if you look hard enough0 -
Ok, point taken.
However, I thought I HAD been looking hard enuff!
So....if ANYONE, can find a good deal Id be grateful if you could let me know where! As for Somerfield, hmmm, havent got one close by.Jazz0 -

bigpockets have some cheap refurbs - if you only want wp, spreadsheets and internet access then
http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?lang=&product_id=1474&session=5d31a1d2f92c9e13e22391f6b3446575 for £189 or

for £329 if you want more go
Morgancomputers usually have some decent refurbs
I'd always bugo for a brand name eg IBM or Delll when buying laptops - it increases the chances of bits being available for repair. Unlike desktops where most bits are generic laptops tend to be uniqueTANSTAAFL !0
