Teddy & punch balloon is a brill idea. We had punch ballons the week before last for my sons 1st birthday (to keep the bigger kids entertained) and they went down a treat (they've still not deflated though, lol, so its probably a good idea that you're sending them home with the guests:) )0

Thanks for that
Just been to poundland and bought up the shop lol I had a rethink and probs teddys r a bit young for 5 year old boys sadly, it sounded such a good idea:D
It looks like it will work out around 50p each for making up quite decent looking party bags using all suggestions on here, so i'd like to say thank you all :T0 -
I think it is great to ask everyone as some kids never seem to get invited to a party.0

my little girl (4) was at a birthday party last weekend where the parents had hired a puppet show to entertain the kids - they loved it! - we had her party (also for her whole class) at a local play centre after hours so we paid a flat rate to hire the entire place for two hours and did our own food - much better than paying per head0

My daughter (now 11) had a party like this when she was four, we didnt even have to hire the hall they gave it us for free, she invited all of her class, I did a buffett which went down really well, I hired a clown who did 1 hour of clown fun and 1 hour disco, the kids had a brill time. It was a one off for her, she has never asked for a big party since so I dont think you would be setting yourself up for it every year. Hope this helps.
There are some lovely ideas on here and I totally agree with Greengrass.
I did a big party in a hall for my daughter's 11th birthday as it was her last year at Junior school so we invited EVERYONE! I am really lucky to have a friend and her husband who helped me out. They have 4 daughters of there own and come from big families.
I hired a disco - you can get entertainers who do discos, games and magic for little ones.
I did a buffett but as I was worried I wouldn't have enough food we also did hotdog sausages in rolls that were really cheap and went down really well.
We had bottles of cheap sugar free fizzy drinks and big bottles of juice.0 -
I have my four year old sons birthday party this saturday, we're going to go to a local free fun day, face painting etc then have a pinata, cake and home cooked sandwiches, sausage rolls etc at grannies for about 30 people cost should come it at about £30 quid...
Last year we went to the local park ( pond, green fields, nice nature walk ) we brought a duvet and all had a picnic, for entertainment I went to our local bootsale in the weeks before the party and bought a tennis racket & ball set, a football and pop up goal, baseball set, a kite etc and some bubbles, everyone had a ball all cost about £30 and I had no mess to clear up
The year before I bought all the craft stuff I could find at my local bootsale, paint, feathers, sequins etc and set up a craft day in my back garden, papering table and laid everything out and let the kids tear away, again home cooked food, still have alot of the paint etc which I wheel out when my sons bored
It's nice to be a bit original, kids get bored of the same indoor catered parties indeed my son has been to the same place for birthday parties 3 times this year, lets get back to using or imagination.... Got to get thinking about next year !!!Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
well the party is looming next saturday......
i managed to get a great deal on ty teddies £22 for 40!!!, i gave them out as invites.
so at the party im having a table for the teddy t shirts (to decorate)
im also making gingerbread bears for them to decorate.
and i made a pinata in the shape of a teddy head (if you want me to post a picture let me know)
im also going to do pass the parcel (got some great things from the £ shop)
and finally im making the cake myself!!! i sort of got coaxed into it and thought 'what a good idea!!' (not thinking that now!!!lol)
ive got the punch balloons and also some cello bags for the cake.
i just cant wait till its over now0
