Buying Dell Pc...

Well, after Mesh took ages answering the telephone, I eventually got through this Morning and the chap was so helpful and patient, and so easy to talk to and understand, it was very refreshing. We went through everything with regard to the Matrix Premier, and I found the chap honest and in no way pushy and I ordered the Premier there and then - I ordered what I needed and was not encouraged to buy something that I really didn't need.
My delivery date is two weeks to day, and I'm quite excited, it's taken ages for me to actually choose something and be able to order it
Thank you everyone ;o))))
Today is the day for you, Northtim, I hope you're happy?!0 -
With regard to mesh they have some good deals but they have a very poor customer service rating when things go wrong. Also I was told there is a long backlog at the moment and they cant keep up with demand. But as I say deals are quite good.0

It did take a long time to get through to them - comparing them with Dell, I found Dell where very pushy when I spoke to them over the telephone, Mesh weren't - Dell was so wanting me to order there and then and even though I kept saying (two occasions) that I wanted to think about it, it was, when will you call back, can I call you, can I have you credit card details blah blah ... way too pushy, very off putting - Mesh did not behave like this, the chap was super great, so very helpful, easy to talk to and understand and he was honest and I have come away feeling that he hasn't made me buy something I didn't need or want.
Hopefully I continue to feel so happy about Mesh0 -

Actually, through no fault of Mesh's it is tomorrow, I misread the paperwork which lists despatch date rather than delivery
I have an e-mail address for the sales person I was dealing with. She has been really helpful and i did e-mail her a couple of days ago to check delivery was on schedule. She checked and, apart from pointing out the despatch date thing, confirmed the system was in testing and should be on time. She said would contact me again if any problems, haven't heard anything so fingers crossed for tomorrow.
If you want to check things out I suggest you e-mail the Mesh sales address when you get the paperwork and put it FAO the sales person whos name will be on your paperwork.
I know some people on here have highlighted problems they have had with Mesh but they always do well in the end of year surveys in PC mags and I have purchased from them before and been very impressed.
Mesh - please don't let me down tomorrow :think:0 -
New system arrived thursday
Not had much time to try it out - all seems good. I did specify I wanted a Viewsonic monitor that had good reviews, so they sent a Sharp one  However having checked out specs of both the Sharp is as good or better and recently released so have gone with it. Looks good as well.
Have run Far Cry on full quality settings and runs perfectly.
Only downside is the Sony DVD-writer supplied is very noisy, much more so that the NEC model I had in my old system.
Overall though I'm very happy and still haven't found anything camparable at the price. Will stop looking now0 -
I'm looking for a Dell laptop below £600. The Inspiron 6000 fitted perfectly till the offer of a free printer came along and pushed the price up. Although the new price is still below £600, I think that I should be getting a P4 or at least a Pentium M processor...
I'd like to have a P4 processor but how likely is this at my price range?0 -
All sounds to be going very well Northtim... I've still got nearly two weeks to wait for mine to arrive, so when it does, I'll let you know how I go -going to be setting it up myself, that'll be fun lol0

CC is there a reason you want p4 over a pm?0 -
probably because the P4 are a lot more powerful - I have a P3 800 at home and it really struggles to process applications and games of today. getting a Pentium M or Celeron M would only be around double the speed. A P4 could get up to 3.2 Ghz. Is that reasonable or have I overlooked something about the mobile processors?0

Personally p4 in a laptop isnt ideal i think. The PM is designed specifially for laptops and work very well. Scroll down this auction page to find a comprison for p4 and pm(not sure on it's accuracy but i'm sure a little googling would bring up lots of info) here
