The link for you re Barred statue debts.

Can you offer your services i.e. ironing service from home, maybe put an advert in the local shop, you could advertise cleaner/ironing anything that will make you a wee bit of extra money. Could your eldest boy get a paper round? It would help.

Thankyou, you're so kind. I have an advert in 3 local shops at the moment advertising just that, it's a terrible place to live for work, theres a lot of seasonal work about at the moment but i seem to apply and not even get a reply at the moment, i missed the usual 'turn' in advertising as i lost my job i had in a restaurant at the end of january, and most seem to go in january..
Crazy, i have 9 '0' levels all a's apart from 1, a degree, and i live in completely the wrong place! I know if i moved id move areas, but i just cant upset the kids anymore, hence why 3 years would give us a little stability, it just seems to have backfired on me :o

Have you tried temping agencies? What kind of job can you do? My OH used tons and tons of agencies when he was made redundant a couple of years ago.

You will have to be careful though, that work will pay for itself otherwise you could be no better off so to speak, will they (the Government) take money away from you (i.e. HB) if you earn over a certain amount?

Some people make a living as technical writers. Have you thought of advertising your services online as an illustrator. There may be someone writing a children's book or something who needs an illustrator. It may be worth a try.

Also, you might find it cheaper to feed your cats on liver. You can buy a large pack for under a pound.

I noticed in some of your other posts that you can sew - have you thought of offering your services to alter clothes - make curtains(?) perhaps to supplement your income?

    Hi there

Sorry to hear about your situation - hopefully things will get better soon.

Have you thought about mystery shopping? It gets done all over the country in good and bad areas. You can just seach for mystery shopping and lots of companies come up. You can register with a few and quite often you get freebie meals etc. The wok is ad-hoc and you can pick and choose. The main companies are TNS and NOP but there are loads of others.

    Good luck.

I think I am aware of your financial situation cause my sister who has just divorced her husband is finding the same problem, if she doesn't work, she doesn't get the extra, but if she does, the government takes some of it off her. You can PM me as to where abouts you live (area) and I could suggest some temping agencies, do look at the council website though for vacancies in school, they are currently advertising on our council website for September term).

Could your Ex not help out a wee bit more? (although the maintenance you are getting isn't too bad considering my sisters payments).

I think I gonna suggest the CAB, you need to speak to someone who can offer you advice for someone in your situation, could you post on the benefits board, they may be able to advise you also.

I agree re the mystery shopping. Try Retail Eyes, Gapbuster & Grassroots. Lots of Pizza Hut & McD's at the mo which of course I'm turning down due to my healthy life style ;) .

Any books to sell - try greenmetropolis or amazon, also another one beginning witn a or b (help folks, only came across it once on here). Ebay?

Also, as you have time on your hands at the mo go on the Comps board and enter everything. If you do all the comps ending that day (there is a thread for it), every day you WILL win something (as I know :D ). May pick up something ebayable. I won a vibarator last month, at least that would put a smile on your face :o )

    Re your earlier post:
"I really do everything i possibly can do here, the food bill covers me, my two sons aged 12 and 15, 3 cats including packed lunchesso no one :o please dont suggest i get rid of them "
Not suggesting you get rid of the cats, but stop their packed lunches
    ;)

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
