Problems with Orange warranty
I have recently experienced major difficulties with orange who are refusing to honour their 12 month warranty on a Motorola v220 I purchased in one of their shops. The phone developed a defect on the inner screen after 8 months ( I suspect due to heat on a very hot June day) but both Orange and Motorola claim that the problem must have been caused by what they refer to as "drop/crush damage". The phone has never been dropped or crushed and there is no damage to any other part of the phone. Despite sustained contact with Orange I am getting nowhere but I refuse to give up on principle. This sems a very convenient excuse to avoid having to honour warranties. Has anyone else had similar problems? Any advice much appreciated

if they think it has customer damage or liquid damage then they will not repair under warrenty.
i think you will find it almost impossible to prove it wasnt.
i have had a lot of flip phones in for repair with similar damage, usually caused by youngsters flipping over the flip fast so it slams shut, next time they open it they find it has cracked or bleed (not saying you have done this)
good news is you can get the screen quite cheap
best (easier) to replace as a pair
£13 inc del on ebay here:

if you dont want to change it yourself add about £10 for someone to fit it0 -
Thanks for the advice about screen replacement. I was definitely careful with the treatment of the phone and as much as anything am annoyed that no one at Orange
customer services replied to my letter of complaint and simply referred the matter back to the Orange store which had been so dismissive of the complaint from the beginning. They are clearly quite accustomed to using this as an excuse not to honour the warranty, knowing that the customer cannot actually prove that he has not dropped the phone.0 -

I have something similar, nokia claiming 9 month old 7600 is 'water damaged' tho I know it has been in body glove case all its life and never got wet. Is there any wat to dispute this?I think....0 -
I also have a problem with orange. I have paid orange phone insurance for five years, but they are now refusing to replace my spv m200, value 300 pounds, after my car window was smashed and the phone was stolen. I feel that the information on their website is misleading, as it does not make clear you will not be covered unless your phone is in a locked glove box. My glove box does not have a lock, so I would have been unable to meet this criteria anyway.
Also they say I have to pay 200 pounds to get out of my contract. Does anyone have any suggestions?

when you take it to a nokia repair center and it is found to be liquid damaged they should be able to give you a scan of the damaged area. they often find the damage by xray.michaels wrote:Richard

i do get a lot of phone for repair myself that have liquid damage, unknown to the owner. it can be caused by just being in a damp pocket or even in humid air like bathroom. you can usually see it on pcb with magnifier.
i once had one that i was told was def not liquid damaged but i found loads at the bottom of the pcb near charging point, it was then remembered that she used to let her toddler play with it to keep him quiet a sometimes he was sucking it !!!
you can try some independant repair places, many (like me) have a no fix no fee policy.0
