my younger sister is looking for a phone for herself - she's currently at sec school and obviously chats and mostly texts all the time. I'd like to get her a phone as a bday present - probably a prepaid one - can anyone advise us on anything cheap and worth having?

i would go for O2 if she s a TEXT queen! !
also O2 have got free sim offers every now and then! i am on one of those tariff where £10 topup gives you 300 free txt and you still have the £10 thing. plus their 10% cashback offer. u just cant go wrong.0 -

yep she's definitely into texting - I mean she's literally with touch with her friends 24/7
I explored the o2 tariff that you mentioned, it looks like quite a good deal to me - especially the cashback offer to be spent completely without limits - now that tends to work differently on various networks (eg orange from what i've heard)
anyone has any experience with the orange pay as you go? or is anyone else using o2 ?_____

What I would add is just make sure if you go for orange that the reception is any good where you are.O2 are the only network that has good coverage where I live so unfortunatly I am stuck with an Orange contract that I can only use if I balance very carefully on a garden chair at the end of the garden!!!!Not good
Her.s the link for the free O2 simsFree O2 sims0 -
how about tesco, easy or fresh?Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0

thanks fir that one would actually expect the range to be pretty much the same and hence not think about it too much. good point - once we get down to the few best choices we'll look at the ranges. oxford seems to be a place with good range for all networks, but will double check!_____

You can't get phones which come with this tariff (I don't think) so make sure you get an unlocked or o2-locked phone and one of the free sims to swap for it.
yeah, O2 was the one I was considering most seriously, given the amounts that you do also get back once you top up your account - which can get up to 50%, which sounds amazing ;-) but what is that problem with sims? are you saying you can't actually go to their shop and buy a phone with that tariff?_____
