BT Broadband dropped connections!!!!!!!!!

I have been with BT BB for 18 months. I have had a few dropped connection issues but nothing major, until they decided to ‘upgrade’ from 576kbs to 1.1mgs. It’s a real pain in the butt! The online help requested that I change the filter on the phone, .eh? Seems like I’m going to have to perform loads of stuff, which is going to be a pointless waste of time.
I haven’t changed anything.
What I need to know is if I change BB supplier is it still going to happen as the lines etc. belong to BT?
Cheers for any help

sometimes filters can be the cause of the problem - as they slowly degrade - depneding how well they were made. So after a while - you will start to hearing a slightly noisey background noice. I replaced mine - and the sound quality did improve.
It could be that being on 1mb, is causing the connection to drop - because you may be in the maximum limitation area of 1mb (ie. furtherest away from exchange, to get 1mb).
Changing supplier may not overally improve things - especially if you are in the mimitation area..... it maybe wise to just downgrade back to 512kb0 -
Hi MrJ
Thanks for that!
Don't suppose you can give me a clue how to do it?

What part, the changing filters? Get a new one and replace the old one....
Downgrading - Ask BT Broadband to check your line loss, and see if it is in a good area, and not in an iffy place (ie. on fridge of being good/bad)
Changing supplier, phone BT Broadband up, and ask for your MAC code - goto your potential new provider, and they will switch you over. Though if you still the same problem - then its something else, like your line or perhaps modem, or even your PC at fault. If you could possibly get your hands on a different modem from a friend - see how it copes.
Yes, the phone lines are owned by BT - but you can use practiacally any ADSL supplier - like I use zazizam unlimited 512k for £15.99 a month, whilst using their telco service (which gets me £2 knocked off the normal price).0
