What are your luxuries?

Ooooooooo blimey, reading this thread I've agreed with nearly everything that's been mentioned so far!!!..............
Proper coffee - illy is my favourite but I try to buy it from costco where it's about £2.50 a tin instead of £3.99 in the supermarket.
Parmesan - anothe costco purchase, or smuggled back from Italy
Wine - we rarely go out drinking, so always have a well stocked wine rack. Again, most of them are bargains.
Holidays - ahem.....4 this year. DIY deals & late bookings usually mean we get a good price though.
I'm a big Clinique fan, but all those holidays mean I get to buy it all in duty free & it lasts me ages.
Re-reading this, it is apparent that I have quite a lot of luxuries, but always shop around for the cheapest deal. I don't waste money on smoking & going down the pub & I can afford it. If my financial circumstances changed, what would be the first to go?........erm......
I would love a cleaner sooooooooooo much.0 -
My personal luxury erm...... dying my hair red
Although I have now found that HomeBargins (or Home and Bargin) stock the hair dye I use for £2.99 instead of £5 in Boots
I will occasionally treat myself to a bottle of wine, but I buy Lambrusco so it's not exactly breaking the bank plus I can't remember the last time I bought a bottle. I think it might have been for OH's birthday at the start of July but I've decided that I'm going to do my best to go T-total again, except for 1 celebratory drink on special occasions (like my SIL's 18th which is in November, and maybe Christmas Day) so wine is a REAL luxury now :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Oh me too! I've thought about it but then I wouldn't let one in until I've got the place spick and span myself!
I agree about the shopping around for the best deals and it's only down to all the :money: savings I've made elsewhere that I've been able to afford the few luxuries that I buy now!
Buying free range/organic dairy, meat, poultry and fish for me is more of a personal choice to do with ethics as much as anything else and to be honest I'd rather go without if I can't afford it, but I do find we eat more healthy vegetarian meals as a result!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I know how you feel about the idea of having a cleaner- what a lovely idea.
DD was complaining bitterly about the state of the house a few days ago when friend was coming round- saying "****"'s house is always nice! Felt like pointing out that "***"'s mum probably has a cleaner! Also think she has someone to do her ironing for her! Do not think that she has four daughters either!"This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

If you mainly use your phone for texting you would be better off with one of the free 02 SIMs. Get up to 6 free HERE
If you top up by at least £10 every month, you get 300 free texts every month.0 -

I used to have one back in the days we were both working full-time and had lots of other commitments and it was heavenly coming home to a nice clean house and she also used to iron my work uniform and the kids school uniforms for me
I guess I feel kinda guilty, not to mention lazy, wanting someone to come and do the work I should be doing, especially as I'm at home 24/7 now, but aside from the depression causing lack of motivation I also struggle physically most days with back pain and ankle/knee problems so I can't do as much as I used to do anyway. I find it hard standing for more than say 10-15 minutes without being in crippling pain, so washing up, peeling veggies, cooking etc has to be done in batches with rest time in between and hoovering has to be done one room at a time etc.
Trouble is I have so much clutter that it would be hard for a cleaner to know where to start, or even reach some places LOL! which is what puts me off the idea. I keep saying as soon as I move I'll get someone in but I can then imagine me putting it off until everything's unpacked and in it's place, which could take months/years and by then the dust/dirt will have accumulated again "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Regarding cleaners, I think I would find that stressful actually. I get edgy when anyone is in the house (it was awful when we had a decorator doing the living room for three days recently, and I had to camp out in the kitchen).
Also there is the business of making conversation, offering refreshments, sorting out payment, giving instructions....
How friendly to get? I wouldn't want a friend doing my dirty work, but I couldn't sit around with "staff" doing it either.
Am I weird, or does anyone understand what I mean?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
