Loyalty cards

Right, really want to join the Pin challenge, but I know nothing about loyalty cards or how to get vouchers. I live in London and don't have a car so generally get our shopping online, especially as our closest supermarket is a Tesco Metro (ie charges about 50% more for everything ).
So, I was hopeing some of you may be able to enlighten me on the best ways to get vouchers, what loyalty cards schemes are worth joining and where the benefits are.
Thanks you!

Right, well, if you're shopping on line, and you stay with your local Tescos then THE very best place to look for advice is the Online and Offline Vouchers Board. It has up to the minute discount codes for Tesco's and there'll be plenty of advice on how to get and use a clubcard too.
What I'll do is move this post across for you, and then when you're loaded up with vouchers and codes you can wander back into Old Style and sign up for the Pin Money Savings Challenge

You can pick up a Tesco Clubcard instore and the first time you use it, you will receive a coupon for a bonus 100 points next time you use it.
Make sure you have added your clubcard number to your account details if you shop online with Tesco. You still earn points with online shopping.
Discount codes for money off Tesco online HERE
Place to ask any questions about using Tesco online HERE
Tesco is one of the most generous of the loyalty card schemes, as you can use the vouchers towards money off holidays, days out, RAC membership, mag subscriptions etc. etc. Using your vouchers like this is much better value than using them instore.
Don't forget to sign up to all the Tesco clubs as well. Every quarter they also send out mailings with vouchers for bonus points and free gifts etc.
Hope that's a start for you.

Thanks Jo_B! Going to go out at lunch and get myself one. And not buy anything as I made a packed lunch. Actually think I will leave my wallet on my desk! :rolleyes:Anna :beer:0

Boots Advantage card is another one that is definitely worth joining, if you haven't already. Especially if you have kids, but even if not, it's still great. Boots have been known to give out free stuff occasionally
but even normally you get 4 points for every £1 spent and there are loads of extra point opportunities.
You can only spend Boots points in Boots, but I don't think spending them is a problem.
Bigger Boots (handy for you in London) do loads of electrical stuff etc, for example, that you can redeem your points for.

Thanks Dormouse, have just joined Boots online
. Have come back from Tesco with my temporary card which I'm about to register too. Anna :beer:0 -
Don't forget though, points only make worthwhile prizes if you are gaining them from stuff you would normally buy and provided its at the best price.
i.e. if you are getting shampoo bogof from Boots because its cheaper than Superdrug etc then he points are a bonus. However if shampoo is £1.99 in boots and £1.69 in Superdrug, you're far better off buying from Superdrug.

Does this still work? I tried this about a fortnight ago and did not get a 100 point bonus slip

Also, I have seen people talking about using vouchers from other stores in Tesco - how does this work?
Also can you use vouchers for specific money off online? (ie 20p off tinned beans)
Thanks xx

Most Tesco stores will accept non-store specific coupons even if you haven't bought the item that it it is meant for. They usually impose a limit of 10% of your total amount spent, but the rules vary from store to store and from day to day!
Some stores will also accept other supermarket coupons such as Sainsbury's £2 off if you spend £20 etc, but not those for 50p off Sainsburys bread or other specific items etc ( If that makes any sense!).
I haven't tried using money off coupons for online shopping. I just rely on the discount codes listed on here.
