how would you have felt if they'd told you you couldn't fly with the excess luggage and so cancelled your ticket .....they then offer to let you buy another ticket for the same flight with a huge premium attached to it ?

I would probably have sued them in the small claims court as not being within their T&Cs!!!

All they can do for excess baggage is charge you the £7.50 per kg!

Its a very harsh, but effective lesson.
Ryanair are the ultimate no frills airline. They make no apologies for their ruthlessness. The hard fact is, 50 passengers having to have passport info entered at check in, slow the whole check in process right down. Ryanair grudge the check in fees as it is without this extra hassle. Thats why the want it done b4 hand-its automated on the web.
Obviously if you are buying a last minute ticket (although forced) then its at a premium price, so worth their while to fill the info in there and then.
I too learned the hard way re baggage.
Just dont expect any lee-way regarding T&Cs and that way you wont be disappointed.
Sometimes I think Ryanair, although Ive never had a problem apart for the 1 time over weight baggage, are getting too big and are on a self destruct course.
People will put up with the little things like overweight baggage charges, check in fees, £2 coffees, scratch cards etc but this incident has just taken it too far.

'Passengers are required to submit this information after they have completed the booking process or at the latest up to 4 hours prior to flight departure via the "My Flight" section on the home page of www.ryanair.com. We reserve the right to cancel your reservation and deny you boarding without refund if you fail to submit this information prior to your arrival to Check-in. '

OK, point taken. But then to say, however, pay for another ticket and we will waive the 4 hour rule on the T&Cs is surely beyond the pale.

    Hi all,

Well, as I put together my 'dossier' to send to the airline, I noticed a full refund had appeared in my account this morning. I'm clearly very pleased, but interested in an explanation from Ryanair about how this all came to be.

Full credit to the airline for seeing sense and reversing this error. I will travel with them again, as I have done in the past, once I have receieved an apology / explanation, and I intend to request this from them now.

Perhaps this was an issue with the contact staff on the day rather than the airline?

    Thanks again for the input.

Perhaps an explanation is no longer required?! Not sure about the numbers though, but a satisfactory explanation in the Bristol News about what exactly happened here.

Ah ha...looks like Servisair were jumping on the "blame everything on Ryanair" bus!!!

Which, of course, leads to threads like this one doing the same thing!
