Isn't it convenient that it ended on the 31st of August, and the thread telling people where the free bottle page was was posted on the 1st of September....

I think they just didn't want to handle everyone from here requesting free bottles.

i looked on the website when i ordered mine was definately there on the 4th September, so if it finished on the 31st August how come it was still on THERE website then. "may have been given the impression that the offer was still on", now that really annoys me, Stuart Lax needs to rethink his PR!!!

yer, i know that there just back tracking, but i'd love it if they'd just be honest, would have prefered to recieve this email more like this...

I registered on 5th September and the website definitely still had the water bottle offer open. No mention of a closing date was given.

Not only did I get the same reply from Stuart Lax as a few people above, his email asked for a read receipt.

Presumably, obtaining a receipt covers the company (Royles) for using the details I submitted for future marketing purposes, as the email warns me my address has been added to their mailing list.

I am annoyed that the company has obtained my personal details (name, age, address) and might use it for marketing purposes - or even pass it on to other organisations. So I have sent an email back to Mr Lax requesting that all my details are removed from their database under Notice under section 11 of the Data Protection Act 1998.

This makes a formal request to "cease or not begin processing personal data for the purposes of direct marketing". I obtained the wording from the Information Commissioner's website. You need to give them 28 days to action this request - if you subsequently receive any marketing from them, you can pursue the matter further.

I suggest if you are also miffed, you could do the same - that should keep them busy for a few days!
