Free email and failure of Yahoo?

Hi,
Does anyone know what has happened to Yahoo mail? I have been locked out of my account since Friday, and since it is my main method of communication this is rather serious. Is this a once-only glitch, or do I need to start looking for another free email service.
Anyway, if Yahoo email is gone for good then please could someone recommend a free web-based email service that is likely to give consistently reliable performance.

How are you trying to access the account, e-mail client or website? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I have accessed mine today with no problem
I know that is of no benefit but just wanted to let you know that the system is working
In what way are you "locked out"?0 -
I have been trying to access it via the website. I enter my username and password, and then it just hangs until my system times out.
I signed in on the Yahoo main page and could see the headers of recent incoming message, but attempts to get at them again led to time-outs. So I have just tried to set up POP3 client access using Outlook Express, but attempts to log on lead to error messages: apparently my username-password combination is being rejected.
I have a broadband connection provided by Virgin media, if that makes any difference.
Anyway, good to know that Yahoo is working for other people in the UK: at least that means they have not folded!0 -

Try a different web browser.
If that works, you have narrowed down what is wrong to your old web browser. You tried deleting your tempory internet files etc?0 -
I vote GMail too, it's excellent. :beer:0

I had problems with yahoo last week but they solved it via online chat as they said they were having problems and i couldnt download or send any mail, they also have changed there plus email so the pop address now includes plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com and some servers are blocking ports so i had to change the port number, but the live service was helpfull and i got it sorted out quick. Hope that helps
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I cant log in with Thunderbird using the web mail plugins, when I log in via the web it times out, but I can get my mail from Thunderbird portable with no web mail plugins.
