Have you tried alternatives, eg https://www.yahoo.co.uk, https://www.yahoo.com ? Are you using the new style Yahoo email - it is Java intensive, if you manage to log in ever, try switching back to Classic style for a while. Finally, are you able to log into ANY websites that require a password?

I did not know that you could use any Pop3 email client with Yahoo, have to have a plugin.

    Working here.
I did not know that you could use any Pop3 email client with Yahoo,
I've an old Yahoo address which works with Thunderbird without any plugins.

But I've never been able to login to the local Freecycle group (Yahoo login) using Opera.
    Move along, nothing to see.

I vote GMail too, it's excellent.

I don't. Personally I don't like an e-mail account that gets indexed by a search engine.

Presumably whatever email service you use provides you with a free tin foil hat.

Has anyone noticed how yahoo sidebar adverts are keyed to the gender of the user? I guess that Yahoo! uses the user's first name and a few other details to target the ads... or maybe your current cookies...

I like the user friendliness of Yahoo mail but the fact that is nearly impossible to archive your own email to your hard drive (so what happens if you get locked out of own email like OP) is what is making me think of migrating to gmail.

Why not use an e-mail client?
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

Since when has Gmail indexed peoples email? You make it sound so sinister.

Already use PopPeeper but it cannot handle Yahoo folders so no access to the Sent Items or specially created folders. With Gmail you can connect with IMAP anytime and retrospectively download /sync all your folders.
