Urgent, plse help - how do I register 3 year old mobile phone?

I'm really hoping someone can help me with my query as a matter of urgency, please.

I received a free Motorola mobile phone on the One to One network 3 years ago and it stayed unopened in my cupboard as I already had one.

When I went to see my Dad a couple of weeks ago, I asked if he would like the phone as I would feel happier if he had one for when he goes out. (He was taken ill a few weeks ago in the middle of the night and had to have the paramedics out, which worried me sick). He said that would be great, so I set about trying to register it my end.

I phoned the number on the leaflet and was told it was no longer available. When I dialled the new number, I found that One to One was now O2. I was told that the number had been cancelled as it hadn't been registered within the required time and that I would need a new Sim card.

I have seen the free Sim cards available through this site, but of course I can't apply for one as I don't have a mobile phone number to give them because it was cancelled. It also means that the free £5 on the phone and free £10 for registering, goes out of the window (as I was told by the man I spoke to).

Could some kind person tell me the cheapest way of going about getting this mobile up and running so that I can give it to my Dad asap?

And does anyone know if I can do anything about the free talk time which I've been told is no longer valid?

Many thanks in advance,

Carrie :)

  • I do not remember if they ask for a mobile number when you register for free sim cards (and I'm not sure that they would need one either). I f they won't accept a landline number - try putting a friend's mobile number in - you do not have to worry about messing their number up as each SIM comes with a new number of its own. If all else fails, I can send you an o2 one from a previous offer.

    Good Luck

  • One to One is now T Mobile, not O2.

Click HERE for 2 free O2 sims

In this form you do NOT need to enter a mobile phone number!

    Not the normal offering:

300 free anytime, any network texts
150 free any network off-peak minutes
When you top-up £15 or more a month
10% of your top-ups back every 3 months

You dont need to top up each month btw

  • Another thing to bear im mind is that as the phone was originally on One to One now T Mobile it will probaly be locked to the T Mobile network. So if you want to use another network it might need unlocking.

Thankyou for your replies. Sorry, yes I meant to say T-mobile, not O2, I'm getting my networks mixed up. So when they ask for telephone numbers on these forms, it's not necessarily the one you want the Sim card for?

Thanks very much for the offer, Lady S. If I can't get a free T-Mobile Sim card online, can I take you up on that plse?

With Sim cards, is it just a case of putting it in the phone, then registering. Will my Dad be able to use it almost instantly? Sorry to sound a bit doh!

    Thanks in advance,

    Carrie :)

Thankyou for all your replies. My neighbour has very kindly given me a spare T-Mobile Sim card so problem solved.

    Thanks again. :)
