Ebay charges are mystifying an un transparent. For future reference their is a list of their charges which you can print off on their web site.

With regards the current situation - I would not pay, as there is definately something wrong with your bill.

You state that you have been in email and phone contact with Ebay about this and gotten nowhere??

Ebay & Paypal are 'nomadic' with regards to where they have offices. There is only one 'office' in the UK which I believe is their 'representative office' and that is in Richmond, Surrey. Past experience has told me that this 'office' does not reply to emails/letters or summonses!!! They are above UK law!!

If you have not paid them yet, I would suggest that you refuse to pay and email/write to them (send recorded delivery-to their Head Office address below), outlining your case and what has happened so far. Do cancel your card/bank details with Ebay/Paypal and notify your bank accordingly, failure to do so will result in Ebay/Paypal taking this money irrespective. Your Ebay/Paypal account will probably get a 'restricted' status put on it (non payment of these charges), but at least the onus will then be on Ebay/Paypal to sort out the situation.

I would hazzard a guess that the Ebay site itself was to blame for your situation. Only yesterday, I relisted 6 items that did not sell and was told that 2 could not be relisted due to 'an internal error'. I relisted them manually and then found that the Ebay system had also relisted them as well. I contacted Ebay by email and have received 2 x A4 pages of instructions in cancelling both sets of duplicated items and instructions on how to claim the listing fees back, which involves writing another lot of emails to two different departments and explaining what happened yet again, for them to consider (30 days needed to consider by Ebay)!!! I know that Ebay are desparate for money with having to pay all these fines and compensation orders in the USA, but using monies from outside the USA is off!!.

Incidentally, Paypal are in Dublin and Ebay are in the Netherlands. The VAT Registered Office for Ebay in the EEC is in Luxembourg (the cheapest country for VAT) and their accounts department is in Switzerland!!!.

cd1951, the breakdown of fees would have been shown before the OP confirmed she was happy with them. I don't think there is any indication that the fees changed only after the item was confirmed and listed.

It is possible, just to get to that sort of level by opting for two categories with a huge reserve and the features plus (which is £29.99 per category). Gallery featured would be £15.95 per category and reserve is 2% so £20. It easily adds up to a lot of money.

Any company that ignores a summons simply loses by default and the baliffs will sieze assets from them.

Ebay is not above the law.

As they have assets in the UK they will lose them if they ignore the courts.

If you tap in "sue ebay uk richmond" to google, you quickly discover that ebay have been sued in the UK courts by users.

    For example:
