Ebay have charged me £120 for two reserve listings

Hi,
I listed dome fishing gear for a friend with a reserve of £1000. I confirmed the order and then realised it had charged the reserve fee listing twice because it was listed in two catergories. I emailed ebay straight away and they suggested cancelling the auction, which I did, but they still charged me two lots of reserve fees. I emailed them again and they basically said they agree thats its not clear that you get charged twice, but they are going to charge me anyway. So I now owe £120 and didn't sell the stuff because they suggested I cancel.
Any ideas please? Please please?

I don't know why ebay employ people who don't understand how it all works
I can only assume that when you phoned they thought you hadn't actually clicked 'confirm' to list the auction and were just querying the fees before you confirmed. I suppose it is a fairly reasonable asusmption to make as it might seem odd to them that someone would query a fee only after they had confirmed it was OK.
Anyway, ebay rarely, if ever, give any fees back even where a mistake was made as that is what the confirm button is for after they tell you what the fees are. You might try going through Live help and see if you can sweet talk them into doing something to help you, if only allowing you to relist using the original auction without having to relist it as a relist credit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not meaning to flame you here, but you are given the price and then you are asked to confirm it, which you did.
Ebay stated the listing price and you agreed, nothing more to it.
In the future to avoid such a high insersion get a friend to bid the reserve amount after listing it for £1, this way you avoid a big listing fee and reserve cost.0 -
I don' know how you got to this figure. The reserve price fee for items over £100 is £1.90 per category. You must have done some sort of mega featured item in 2 categories to get to this sort of price. I know ebay fees are steep but you can list a property for £35!0

The reserve fee used to be refunded if the item sold, but this was quietly changed last year.
I honestly do not know why people even consider using reserves now - Start the autcion at £1000 and pay £1.30, or start at 99p, and pay £50-odd in non-returnable reserve fees, but ebay do not make it clear.
I wonder why....<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

I know! I've sold a car on ebay that cost less fees than this. I do accept that its my fault for confirming, but I think they gave me bad advice, and they admit themselves that the fees aren't clear. With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -
I didn't know reserve fees are no longer refunded if your item sells.
The cheeky !!!!!!s.
Mind you, I won't bid on auctions with reserves I find them really annoying. Just start your listing at the minimum you're willing to accept.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

The fees are perfectly clear in that before you hit the confirm button it states the total costs for listing. I still think that ebay misunderstood your question when you phoned as why would they imagine anyone would question fees only after they confirmed they were OK with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If they don't cough up take them to court.
I assume you still have the email from them telling you to cancel?
Ebay are not above the law."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
