12 month free line rental via c/b-what's the catch?

I took one of the heavily discounted BT deals 12 months ago and got a Sony Ericsson T610 for around £5 per month. This runs out on Sept 5th and I've got the PAC code as I want to keep the number.

I'm not a heavy user of the phone and have got a bit fed up with contracts, so have been considering getting a PAYG sim to use it in this phone, (assuming I can unlock it). The phone is not particularly good, by the way.

I really just want the cheapest deal possible.

I notice that there are some 12 months free line rental deals mentioned in this forum. Are they really free if you stick within the call allowances each month. I realise these are cashback deals just like my BT one through e2save.com, but I actually did get the cash back!.

So 12 month free contract (via cashback) + stick within call allowances = free phone plus free usage for 12 months.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks

Btw, wanna buy a NEC 313i locked to 3 with no sim card? ;-)
  • Stick to the terms and you will be fine - unless the company goes bust - not likely with the carphonewarehouse ones though (onestopphone shop, e2save etc)
    To infinity and beyond!
