Ill be very surprised if this has anything to do with Nat West, someone has cocked up big style, and mum is beside herself worrying over this money :mad:0 -

Count me as surprised, seems its a joint !!!! up.
Firstly, Dad's cheque from Nat West was made out to me except with one letter difference, I didn't notice, but as the accompanying letter was correct I never thought to check the cheque. The cheque was also dated 15.04.07 and Lloyds have stated these were the reasons they couldnt cash it, rightly so. So thats the NatWest cockup.
Lloyds cockup was in crediting the cheque, realising there was a problem with it and then totally freezing the account. They admit this shouldnt have happened and my balance should have remained unaffected.
Natwest are sending out a second cheque tomorrow, but sorting all of this out is just an added burden to dealing with the loss of my Dad that frankly should not have happened, especially when you consider that the NatWest department that dealt with it is one that deals soley with the accounts of the deceased.
My Mum was very upset again today, understandably she just wants to be able to pay the funeral directors and try and move on, and now it's going to be another week before we can get the money to do that.
I am going to write to both Lloyds and NatWest and ask them to review their policy in dealing with these issues.0 -
The real test is how they deal with it - if they resolve it and offer you an apology you'll be doing well!
EXACTLY. Everyone makes mistakes, I think it's a foolish idea to change back due to one mistake they have made. Granted it is embarassing if your card is declined, bloody annoying and inconvenient, but these things happen from time-to-time.
Give them a chance to sort it out. From what you've said it sounds as if they've already been pretty good, in terms of admitting the mistake, being honest enough to say they don't know why it's occurred and also that they'll look right into it.
There is not really much more you can ask for to be honest, other than an apology when it's sorted out.Amo L'Italia0
