I've lost the OS Caramelised Nut Recipe

Fancied making some sugary cinnamon spiced nuts this afternoon but having searched for about an hour for the recipe I'm admitting defeat. I got it off here months ago (it used sugar, butter, cinnamon and perhaps some other spices but I can't remember the quantities) but have moved into my new kitchen and lost it in the move. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

Thanks but unfortunately not. The one I was after was probably around Christmas 2006 and was using cashews, pecans, etc like the ones you can buy warm from food fayres.

    Hi Tracy,

I've searched the Old Style board too and can't find a recipe but there are a couple on the Special Occasions and celebrations board that might be what you're looking for. Here and here

Failing that, if you do a search on google there are links to lots of recipes.

Thank you, you've found it for me :j :j
I'd strongly advise you trying it as they are fantastic and I think they kept for a few days in an airtight tin (not that they usually last that long!) Don't know how to do links but the original post is pasted below:

    INGREDIENTS
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    2 tablespoons water
    3 cups pecan halves
    DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a 4 quart glass casserole dish in the microwave. Stir in the brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and water. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir in the nuts so they are well coated. Microwave for 4 to 5 additional minutes on high, stirring every minute. Spread cooked nuts out onto parchment or waxed paper to cool.

    Yum these sound delish! :p

Can I use the same cup to measure everything? Unlike American cups, where a cup of flour is X ounces and a cup of sugar is XYZ ounces etc.  . Too much messing about involved to my liking!

Have done a converrsion to good old fashioned ounces and will report back when tested ...

    INGREDIENTS
    2 oz butter
    3.5 oz brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    2 tablespoons water
13.5 oz nuts (I love pecans and cashews best but make it a bit cheaper by throwing in a few peanuts)

    DIRECTIONS
Melt butter in a large microwavable bowl. Stir in the brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and water. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir in the nuts so they are well coated. Microwave for 4 to 5 additional minutes on high, stirring every minute. Spread cooked nuts out onto greaseproof paper to cool.
