I just dislike having to take 2 lifts at Ashton to get to the start of the shop, plus it is hard work getting to it off the motorway. I think it takes you in about 3 circles to get to the store. At Leeds, the parking is under cover and everything in one building and I can go to the cinema / have a meal afterwards. I do like the magnetized trolley escalators at Ashton. Very fancy.
I live in Ashton (so frequent Ikea often) - it isn't 2 lifts to get to start of store, goodness knows what you have been doing to have to use 2.
As for the motorway, it's the local council signage that is at fault there, they have some hilarious signs to take you to the by-pass rather than through the town - although this doesn't apply to you coming off the M60.
For ease, if you are coming off the M60 from the clockwise side, i.e after passing Oldham, then you should turn Right off the ramp towards Manchester, then right again after the new police station being built on the right hand side of the A635, probably signed for Oldham, then right again at travelodge, then you will come to Ikea in front of you after 1 roundabout at the Cineworld, and some lights.
If you are coming anti-clockwise, it's much easier, you simply turn left off the ramp, staying in the left lane, and go into the 2nd lane (1st goes to manchester, 3rd and 4th go right towards Ashton itself). The 2nd lane goes straight on, and after another 200 yards you turn right at the 2nd set of lights (facing the Travelodge). Then you are at the same point as previous para, and it's straight on past the Cineworld (and new Village hotel).
PS The trolleys are simply caught in the rutted track of the escalator, with grooved wheels, no magnets involved. If you push hard, they will move a bit.
PPS, on a weekend, park on the top floor outside, it's much easier. (it's usually shut during the week tho'). Then when you get in the lft, you are on floor 4, not 3.
PPPS The lifts take some getting used to, you go IN using the right hand entrance, and come OUT from the left hand exit (viewed from the car-park).
When you want to exit from the ground floor, take any of the 5 or 6 lifts both those in front of you and those to the left, they all go to the same place - it cracks me up that I hold a lift and people don't move to use it, just coz it is on the left and they assume it's going somewhere else.:rotfl:I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!
