Its not called woodland any more its now called Soft & Fresh and get the dry oil spray- I got it cheap off e-bay
I have just come back from Arran where the little blighters were biting. I found that either skin so soft or a product called Shoo (http://www.shoo.org/ShooHome.html) which was good and DEET free (as DEET is sometimes not all that good for folk)
Hope this helps

Here is a link about midges etc, and also gives you tips on how to avoid being bitten. Good Luck!

Always found "Eureka!" from here to be very effective - that and taking along a lady as the midges tend to go for the ladies in preference to us hairy-a€€€d blokesThere are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
I have heard that taking yeast tablets drives the midges away.Apparently after sucking the loxenge,we emit an odour that midges don't like-I imagine that you might have to take quite a few to be effective0

I got badly bitten by the midges in Scotland! Got back home on Wednesday after three weeks touring and thankfully face is back to normal - just.
The skin-so-soft does work though (found out about it after acouple of days on the west coast). The trick is to spray on loads and DON'T RUB IT IN. That way the midges just die when they hit the oil before they can bite you. I'm serious about this!! I was spraying on a little bit and rubbing it in and was getting bitten to bits. One night on Skye my partner sprayed loads on my face, I looked in the mirror ten minutes later and counted 50 dead midges on my face. So all evening I was wiping my face to get rid of the dead ones and putting on loads more skin-so-soft.
I was told that they are usually gone by the end of August. The rest of my family were hardly affected at all - they must have just liked me!
If you are going to Skye, I can recommend the campsite in Portree(only £3 per adult per night), I can't remember the address but we had been told about it asked someone in Portree where it was and they gave us directions. We stayed there and went horse riding in Portree too.
Despite the bites I had the most fantastic time. Possibly the best holiday I have evr had. Let me know if you want any more tips. Oh try to go to somewhere near Poolewe there is a fantastic cafe close the there called the Mountain Coffee Company that has the best cakes/coffees/hot chocolates ever!!0 -
Another vote for Avon Skin So Soft.
It really works. No idea why, but it does.
Have a great holiday - you'll love it.:DIf it was easy, everyone would do it!0 -
That's Scotland crossed off the holiday list then ....:eek:0
