With-held number on Orange

My sister has got her mobile phone number with-held because she doesn't want people knowing her works number but I have a problem when she phones me on my landline.

I have been having trouble calls from people with with-held numbers, so I don't answer them anymore. Is there a way that she can put in a code on her phone, so that it allows her to dial my phone and I can see it is her.

She is on the Orange network. We have spoken to Orange and they have said to put in the code as if it was an international call, but that doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

She needs to dial 1470 before she dials your number. That will override your witheld facility and allow her to call you.

Then again im not sure if you have blocked the witheld numbers or if you simply just dont answer them (not sure if 1470 will make her number show up, but worth a try).

She should send you a text first, then phone immediately after. Better still, just call her back...

We have our landline set up to reject incoming calls if the number is withheld. If your sister dials 1470 before inputting your phone number, it over rides the automatic withhold number facility and you will be able to see it's her calling. :)

You need to use the gsm codes, 1470 does not work.

In the setup set the phone not to send number (you dont need to do this via the provider)

Then in your phone book put *31# before all tghe number where you want them to see your number, and they will.

I have my phone set to withold the number and do exactly this to let people (I want) know its me calling.

I think the 1470 is only valid if phoning from a landline.

  • Tony,

Some interesting info in the gsmcodes - you can bar incoming SMS messages!
Will this work to bar spam/premium sms messages? Or will I still be charged by my network provider once the cowboy company sends me the sms?

I have been getting quite a few recently and Orange customer service say they can't do anything about it.

    Any idea?
