So is there a service that doesn't need such a high bandwidth? My bf is working abroad and has to share the server between several work colleagues. We installed Skype and the most it has worked for is a few minutes and I think then the server than runs out of gas his end. Tried to speak via MSN 7.5 and it was a little better. Just wondered if there was another service you could recommend? (My bandwidth is excellent its just that he's in a technologically backward country)0

MercilessKiller I would like to remind you of the main rule for this forum "Please be nice to other Moneysavers" just because someone suggests something different does not mean you have to be nasty about it.0

Sorry.. didn't mean to sound nasty
Just been previously discussed :P
KayEdwards - voipbuster.com doesn't use that much bandwidth and it would mean your boyfriend could call your home number for free
top notch software. [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Very useful thank you. And it will work from all countries calling UK? He's in Afghanistan, which seems to be one of the most expensive places to call!0

o damn! Not afghanistan i'm afraid :'(
Why not use MSN Messenger. There voice feature works superbly well
Same with Yahoo Messenger. Both don't take up too much bandwidth. [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

We have tried MSN - thankfully he has that set up ok now! It seems ok for a couple of minutes and then we get echo's, warbled voices and time delays. I wonder if somewhere the conversation spools and if there is something we should clear on the pc.... But thank you for your input. We'll maybe have to keep trying it when the other guys aren't connected to the server too.0

I downloaded voip and called my house phone, and it worked. But after a minute it got cut off. So I can only make 1 minute calls. Can someone tell me how I can make it longer?0

If you upload €5 onto your account ( file > my account ) then you get infinite free calls to any landline specified within the t&c's.
You dont have to pay more than 5 Euros (works out to abour 3/4 quid)... and as long as you dont call any mobiles or whatever, then that 5 euro will remain in your account.
KayEdwards: Yahoo Messenger have a VERY good voice messenger system integrated with their msn messenger type thing. You could give that a try

I have used Skype for ages and love it. But Voipbuster sounds too good to be true! So all I do is download the software, give them my card details and pay £5 into the account, then I can call landlines FREE of charge in the UK? Then can I use the £5 to ring other numbers at the end of the year? (I'm only looking to use this at Uni)0
