its not that simple in real life

i dont live with my parents due to work being 200miles away, but if they lived closer to work was closer i would live at home.

i get on well with my parents and they have a 3bed house for themselves.

would save me at lest £5k PA or id rather pay them rent than some landlord i dont know.

nothing is as black and white as you make it seem. there are always more than consideration. in this case its not only can you afford it, but is it worth it!!

I do agree wth what you are saying but also agree that if someone can afford it and wants to move out then that is OK too. If I were in the OP's position I would probably stay at home rather than move out but if he/she has made the decision to move out then I wish them all the best.

I know it isn't black and white. There are a lot of things to consider when thinking of moving out.

I could potentially wait until I'm 21 and I'm on about 20k (our apprentice rates go up every year).

Someone I work with (another apprentice) is in his fourth year is on 20k (he showed me his p60) so I will be getting this in about 3 years.

My only outgoings until will be board money which is only £20 a week, topping up phone (about £10 every two weeks) ,smokes about £25 a week(I'm in the process of quitting). Car insurance, mot, tax, and petrol.

I could save up quite a bit if I could decrease some of my outgoings

Oooh you would really save a lot by quitting smoking! In case you didn't know you don't have to buy nicotine replacement from the chemists, you can actually get them on prescription from the doctors - good luck!

On 20k you would easily be able to afford it. Also try getting a contract mobile (unless you would struggle to be strict with yourself) as you can get some really cheap deals for less than the 20 pounds per month you are paying now with lots of free minutes and texts.
You would be in a better position by the time you are earning more, and have stopped smoking.

I also shave my head with clippers so I can save on haircuts lol:p

EDIT: I've just bought Allan carrs easyway to quit smoking book, heard some really good things about it so decided to give it a go.
