abbey direct transfer

I opened an Abbey Direct ISA on 9th April. Heard nothing from them so rang on 18th April. They said that all their advisers were busy and promised me a call back within 24hrs.
I waited in all day on 19th April, no-one called me back. I e-mailed them on 20th April and someone rang me today (22nd April) whilst I was out at work! I rang again this evening to be promised yet again a call back. In the meantime I have received a pin number in the post, which is completely useless as there are no funds in the account yet!
My £3600 is sat in my current account, earning low interest whilst I wait to hear from Abbey. Does anyone know if I am too late to cancel?0 -

Like other posters on here I heard nothing back from an Abbey online application for a Direct Isa. I did however have the 'OLA' number that they acknowledged my application with online. If you also have this and take it into branch you will probably find, as I did, that your account is actually open. They checked my ID (take that with you) and I paid into the account, it is now up and running.0 -
I hadn't heard anything and it'd been more than 7 days.
On the web site there's a callback link so I tried that.
It called me automatically immediately, went to an operator straight away, she transferred me to the correct person who also answered without wait.
She found my account which had been opened 3 days ago and they were waiting for the transfer to be received. She was surprised I hadn't received anything and is sending out a letter today with the account details (I'll bet the other one turns up today).
All painless - excellent customer service and they pay for the phone call.0 -
I applied online for the Direct ISA on the 7th April and received an email from them on the 11th April asking for me to complete the transfer form and send them a photocopy of my driving licence which i sent to them the next day, since then i have not heard anything else from them so i have just rung them and the lady told me that they havent received any of my documentation, she appologised and said that she will look into me getting some compensation!0

Funny how you don't mind companies making mistakes if they can find what's wrong, own up and appologise isn't it?
Just did the Barclay's tax haven cash isa thing. They said I probably wouldn't hear anything for a month. Would be nice to have confirmation that they were processing it but..... (as long as they don't take the cash and they backdate it then it's getting double interest).0 -
I chased Abbey up yesterday and after three calls and twenty mins waiting got through to someone. The couldn't find my OLA number or any details so told me to reapply.
In todays post I received a pin number from them and nothing else, so presume some thing has been done but not sure what

It took about 3 weeks before I had anything from them, I also filled in a transfer from my old ISA online but have no idea what is happening about that. Does anyone know if I still need to fill in the tarnsfer forms and senthem off or will it just be done automatically beacause I filled it in online with the application. There seems to be a lack of communication with Abbey and I don't really want to phone them AGAIN0

I completed the transfer details on the online application, however had to complete a hand written transfer form as well, they need your signature in order to undertake the isa transfer.
Hope this helps

One problem with Abbey at the moment (speaking as branch staff) is that, with the migration between computer systems, staff at one site can't see applications made somewhere else. So if you've made an app online, the call centre won't be able to see how it's progressing, use the callback link on the website and the website team will call you back. Hopefully this will be sorted later in the summer when the new online banking system goes live.wheredoesallthetimego wrote: »I hadn't heard anything and it'd been more than 7 days.

Well this is confusing.
Today I received a letter thanking me for my recent enquiry and enclosing the information as requested.
Enclosed are 2 blank ISA transfer forms.
No account number or anything on the letter.
I have already received a PIN to go with a cash card (which I don't want) so I know something has happened but this looks like they want me to apply for the transfer again. I'll try their callback service again.
Got through very quickly again.
Apparently they have problems getting information about accounts with no money in them.
She thinks I should have been sent a welcome pack but is trying to find out what's happening.
She says the transfer hasn't been requested.
I can't send in this transfer form without the account number which she can't give me over the phone - but I can take it to a branch with ID and they would fill it in (not going to do that).
I can't send off a new application as the account has already been opened.
The welcome pack will have the account number but I'm not convinced that will turn up.
She can't post me the account number either but said she will request a mini-statement to be sent which will have the account number.
Bit of a palaver but she was very nice and helpful so I might carry on.0
