All 4 of my babies been prem and or small, my first born had a fleecey outdoor suit from Adams upto 5lb. The others I have always bought from Mothercare or Next usually online or from one of the bigger out of town locations. Both sell small baby clothes upto 7.5lbs. Again as mentioned above I have bought outfits and babygros from Tescos. But I would imagine at this time of year you would have more luck online for snowsuits. Try Vertbaudet as well. Or of course look at eBay as there are brand new items on sale there as well as used.

This may sound like a stupid question but are they actually out of hospital yet? If not you may find that they are big enough to fit in them by then, as they don't need to be that fitted.

What I did when I had my eldest (though she was a lb heavier) was to buy the smallest size grobag (baby sleeping bag) and put a fleecy jacket underneath and use that in the pram
  • yes they are out of hospital.
At first my daughter was told they had to stay in until they weighed 5lb but they let them go home with her after 6 days because they were both putting on weight.
She does have snow suits and jackets but being so tiny they look lost in them and their hands reach where the elbow should be.
she has knitted cardigans, hats, mittens and blankets for them but she wants outdoor clothes that fit if possible

I must say when I gave birth ALL the ladies/babies on the ward had this problem. Everytime someone was leaving we would gather round to watch them putting babies into giant suits. I know only one person who had a suit small enough for a baby. And these were all 6-9lbs babies.

As for arms, I prefer the sleeves to be long, that way you don't have to bother with mittens.

    Congratulations on the boys!!

  • Congratulations on the birth of the twins!
I was 1lb 1oz when I was born and every night my parents didn't know if it would be my last.
I'm now 5ft 9 and as healthy as I can be.
We were lucky really because my Gran used to have knitting needles on fire 24 hours a day! She measured me for clothes and made them herself. Miss her so much. Although in summer, I'd have to wear doll's clothes because I was so small!
;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)

  • dont know if you managed to find any but if you type in tiny dee on google the you should get a list of tiny baby shops( my daughter was 2lb) and we struggled !!! PM me if you cant find any and i will dig out my paper work for you to see which shops we actually got them from. Even though next and tesco sell tiny baby clothes i found they were still too big for tia even when she had put on a few pounds so we bought ours off the internet
    congrats xxxx

  • We managed to find 1 small warm jacket in Adams size up to 5lbs

In Woolworths we found 1 padded velour outdoor suit in the Disney Baby range, first size up to 7 1/2 lb

My daughter would love another one of these suits and i was wondering if anyone shops in woolworths would you please have a look for her and let me know if you see 1 in first size.

It is a cream colour and has a large picture of winnie the pooh embroidered on it, also there is some writing, there are stripes in the hood and on the cuffs and it fastens on 1 side with presstuds. It costs £14.00

She got 1 today in Stretford and the sales lady rang Urmston, Altrincham and Stockport for us. They didn't have any in.

We would also travel to Northenden, Chorlton !!! hardy, Salford, Big W cheetham hill, Leigh and Swinton if anyone shops there

I appreciate all the helpful information and website names you have given me, thank you all
