Cheapest way to get a Vodafone PAYG SIM?

Just a quickie really... couldn't see any mention of this elsewhere in this forum, but please point me in the right direction if this has been answered elsewhere.

My wife's phone is on O2 PAYG... but the signal from O2 in our area is not as good as that from Vodafone... so I'm after getting her a Vodafone PAYG SIM.... What's the best way of going about this... Should I just buy her a SIM (£12.99 ish), or does it work out better to buy a new PAYG mobile and flog the handset on Ebay to cover back the cost of it?

Anyone else bought a Vodafone PAYG SIM recently?

    If you do a search on the Voda website under reconditioned you might find a bargain phone that will come with a simcard. I got a camera phone for a friend for I think it was £30/£40.
