Their ISA is not that good!
First Direct ISA is fixed until 16th Feb 2006 then drops to 3.93% and has a limit of £10,000 see HERE

  • well, huuuu, duh

have you ever thought that I might be only 23 and only have 3000 in it? just move your money when the rate drops...

glad you have 10k savings, not the case of everyone in the world. I am glad I am young and financially independent, not everybody's case either. Not glad I dont have much money, not everybody's case either.

Now. You see I am in a quandry about FD. I'd REALLY like to have an account with them because they sound like a perfect bank. But I'm also VERY happy with smile who have been great too and also have their ethical policy (which I've now bought back into again after my waverings of yestermonth) which FD as part of HSBC, don't. But I'm still REALLY tempted ;)

  • Yup, been with them from the start when they were the ONLY telephone banking service that worked as many hours as I did. Still great customer service but have noticed the naff standard rates last few years but like most people prefer to run as much day to day stuff likes DD's and standing orders through them as poss because on the rare occasions it goes wrong they take the time to put it right properly. In fact the only thing i could moan about is their cutting back on the daily text messages to weekly. These if you have not used them are very useful if the unexpected happens you can transfer some money without getting hit with painful charges. You can keep the free daily texts if you upgrade the account for £9.50 a month, this also gets you free travel insurance and mobile phone cover if you need them, if not, not much point paying the extra unless your account goes up and down like a yo yo .. those were the days...
  • Well, I've applied to FD for my secondary current account using Greasy Palm (hopefully £6.25 cashback back and a promise of £25 - not the £50 for switching offer - when the account is opened). We'll see how it goes...;)
